I find it easier for me to fill at shell using fuel Rewards for 5 cents off(2%) in conjunction with 4.5% from my boa cash rewards credit card. Combined its 6.5% which, albeit not 6%+1.5% using my credit card, is close enough not having to deal with the hassle of carrying $100-$300 in gas cards. Boy I miss the days when we were able to pay with ebay gift cards and get eBay bucks on top.

Why exactly you have 4.5 % coach back with bofa? Is this a special card?

It's cash rewards 1% 2% 3%. Since I have an account with them you get a bonus us when you cash. If you have 100k in investments or in your bank account you get a 1.75% bonus. Not that high up but I will cash out when I am at the 1.5% level. The base is 1.25% if you have 20k or something like that. It's part of their reward structure.

Most of the Chevrons around SF Bay Area charge the same price, cash or credit. They're also typically the most expensive around here. Used to buy 76 cards but they do charge different cash and credit prices, and the gift cards were giving credit prices so it wasn't the best deal. I do see 76 pop up from SVM every now and then, but I can only remember once in the past several months.

Now, I frequently buy Exxon cards from SVM, as Exxon gives the cash price, a local station near me already has some of the lowest prices around, and with Plenti I collect extra discounts too.
