Yeah, not brand new and the latest and greatest - but if there's someone looking to stay in the Apple / OS X environment and doesn't have a huge budget, this isn't bad.

Intel Core i5 2.50 GHz
4 GB Memory 500 GB HDD
Intel HD Graphics 4000
1280x800 native resolution

Unlike their newer computers, this one:
Has a Superdrive (DVD-RW)
Has a full size gigabit ethernet port

Enter promo code EMCSBCRG4

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Pr...gnorebbr=1

This deal is not for everyone. But if you need to be on a Mac for some reason, this is a decent way to do it if you don't have the money for a new machine.

It does seem a bit overpriced but the good news is the 2012/13 Macbook were the best built ones for longevity. I believe Apple realized they were not going to make as much on repairs so they changed internal build quality.

I agree with the OP, this is a good deal if you need a solid, portable Mac OS machine. The beauty of this model is you can swap out the hard drive for an SSD and increase the memory. The new machines are overrated and overpriced. Buy this one.

i grabbed the refurb air a few months ago from Newegg...it was garbage, returned it twice. No way refurb, more like beaten up by a corp sales team and re-sold...

$400 not a bad price, should be like $350 realistically but mine still runs like a charm. Just upgrade to SSD and 8GB of RAM and you have one performing better than a 2015 one.

I have the 2011 model and works great, battery now is iffy lasts 2 hours vs 8-9 when I first got it.

FYI: This MacBook Pro can be upgraded to 16GB RAM.

Also this model was only discontinued October 27, 2016. Parts and service are available for 5 years after a product is discontinued in all states except for TX and CA which get 7 years. If you buy one from ebay you might get lucky and get one that still has active AppleCare.

Can you tell me which SSD you brought and use & how much did it cost? I literally just got a 2012 MacBook Pro I7 8GB ram for $400 bucks and I want to swap the HDD drive to SSD. Thank you in advance for your response.

I purchased a Grade B Air and I wasnt expecting perfection, but over 6 dents, the corner was non existant, scratches galore. Severely disappointed.

these are really still quite useable. at my last job i used the a 2013 model (the first optical drive less one with retina) and after 4 years it was fine

It wasn't much faster than this on paper, but the one thing that was dead on it was the battery, at least with these older ones you can replace that more easily than on the unibody ones

also given ivy bridge isn't that slow. this is probably on par cpu wise with like the macbook 12" these days. its still more than fast enough for most people.
