Do not buy these - no matter what flavor, what processor and what memory.

- These are essentially snooping devices with non existent privacy policies. Your data essentially ends up on the dark web.
- They do not work for basic videos sites like Netflix/Amazon Video/You tube
- Their cache needs to be flushed every few hours
- Security nightmare, way too many vulnerabilities and direct access to your home network configurations, including network SSID/password
- They call home (Servers in eastern europe or china) almost on a daily basis. Every damn thing, including key strokes are logged, stored and transmitted.

Kodi -
I understand most of you buy these for installing kodi. Kodi is nothing more than intellectual property theft by eastern european, russian and chinese hackers. STOP SUPPORTING THEM. Support the artists and production companies. Go with Netflix/Hulu/Amazon Video.

Youtube
If you are using these boxes for youtube- caution all around. Way too many vulnerabilities and your google/youtube login credentials can be compromised.

I am perplexed why some one would risk so much of their personal info just to save a few bucks. Stick with Rokus/Fire Sticks/Apple TVs.

Makes sense why they're so cheap.

I bought a MiBox when it came out. Was a little bit more money, but it's not bad at all.

My only caveat with the MiBox is lack of OS updates. I know 99% of the companies are slow rolling out updates, but it's still "officially" on marshmallow for god sakes, which means no support for HDHomeRun

You had a valid point until your Kodi rant which invalidates the seriousness of your whole post.

Hdhomerun works on my mi box. It even picks up the channels on the live channels app.

If you are stealing content via Kodi - you are nothing more than a thief. Just a digital shop lifter. When they do crack down on people like you, expect no mercy from people like you.

Artists and studios invest a lot of time and money. If you are stealing content, you are stealing jobs. If you dont understand that simple equation, you have no moral standing what so ever.
Kodi has other features than just streaming channels. You know that, right?

Got link(s) to all this? Curious if I can put another rom on these things to avoid this. Thanks!

HDhomerun works great on the mi box (i'm on the official marshmellow). You can choose from the official HDHR app or insta.tv. Both work with Live channels. For me, I have insta.tv is the better choice because it lets me control volume with the mi box remote.

True....Very true...but on that same token, we all have to remember, everyone in this world is a thief. If one ever apologized to someone or asked for forgiveness, one is acknowledging that one stole something from the other person.
