My 6 year old and 4 year old both learned on balance bikes. My 4 year old transitioned to a peddle bike the day after thanksgiving and was riding independently in about 30 minutes. Worth it!

So it's like a regular bike without the peddle and gear?

I guess so. No pedal but with bell and brake. Bikes for kids to learn to keep balance. ;d

Maybe it's just me being old. (In my 30's) when I was a kid, a bike with no pedals was broken. Now a days they call it a feature. What am I missing here? How does this Work? I have a 3 year old I would love to teach to bike if this works.

What's the weight. I'm looking for a strider cause they weigh 5lbs. Don't want my 3yr old dragging an anchor.

You teach them to balance first without the pedals. Training wheels do nothing according to the experts as turning the pedals requires no skill. But what do I know YouTube has all the videos on this. I'm getting one btw for my 3 yr old.

Balance bikes are great for learning to ride. They are generally a lot lighter than a beginner 12" bike, even with pedals removed, which makes it easier to learn. My daughter rode her balance bike for one summer at 2.5 and was on a pedal bike the following summer at 3.5. It took a couple of days for her to learn how to pedal. I often check out Two Wheeling Tots for reviews and info.
