Just a heads up: People who wear glasses there is a 99% chance that your glasses will not fit in the rift.

^^^^^ BS. Glasses fit fine. Worst case, you can print out an adapter and get a $10 pair of Zenni glasses for the lenses and have a prescription Rift headset.

The above post is not accurate - 99% chance? Yeah, I would say more like 50/50 - and you can also buy lens adapters relatively cheap. My glasses fit in the Rift. Smilie

edit: let me clarify, if you wear warby parker or ray ban eyeglasses or any other modern eye wear then you probably cant fit inside a rift.. if you buy kirkland glasses then they might fit.

I just got the rift and it is pretty great. You will need the $100 gift card to get the following items (I paid $324 on BF)....

1. Additional Rift Sensor ($60)
2. USB C extenders (probably will need at least 2, maybe 3)
3. HDMI extender

That will burn up your gift card or pretty close to it. The new 2.0 OS is great for Rift. It also includes some solid free games (Robo Recall and Lucky's Tale are Fun). I bought SuperHot VR on Steam and it is amazing.

Side note, I have an older dell inspiration 660 with a 1060 6gb, and it runs smooth. I am concerned about Fallout not being able to run, but I will wait and see.

Does anyone know how this compares to the HTC VR. Does this one work with Steam? Is this a good price on it?

I have Dell visor and am pretty happy with the experience. Should I switch to Oculus or not?

It does work with steam games. The rift is rated the #1 VR headset in many reviews. I have one and is extremely comfortable and the touch controllers really help with immersion. 10/10 would recommend.

It's MSRP + $100 GC. Not $100 off MSRP. $325 a couple of weeks ago was better IMO.

Compares pretty well to HTC, I think most consider the rift to be a little worst but also about $200 cheaper, there are lots of good comparison articles like this one:
http://www.techradar.com/news/wea...ft-1301375

I believe the rift works better with steam than any other VR headset.

This is a great deal if you will actually use the Newegg card (doesn't expire). I don't think the rift+touch got much below $350 up till now.

Even used, you won't pay less than $300 for the rift + touch and you don't get the free games if you buy used.

I got the Dell Visor with the laptop deal during BF. I tried it on once and haven't touched it since. Likely will just flip it on OfferUp. Visor is much more comfortable esp for glasses wearer but tracking is not great in comparison. Microsoft MR has potential but Rift or Vive are more polished with a lot more content today.

the promotional gift card is emailed 4 days after purchase. I would use it to buy a third sensor, and extra hdmi, usb extension cables or other useful accessories. For that reason, this may be a better deal for many people
