a little more than I want to spend, but pretty much perfect out of the box, can anyone comment on the weight/mobility of it?

I agree it's heavy, but for a boy who won't move it that much (and does not want a gaming desktop), this is a great deal. Thanks for posting.

I need a 2-in-1 like this. Don't think they exist with a discrete video card.

I bought a dell that had the same specs as this one,it had A 1 TB HDD and it cost me 580. Kinda torn between giving back that laptop back and getting this instead.I'm not very well versed in laptops or even computers in general, but iv heard that you dont need a lot of SSD memory, especially if you only play 1 or 2 games. The HDD can store stuff like movies pretty well for a cheap price. Plus, iv heard that SSDs are quite heat sensitive and a gaming Laptop produces a lot of heat, especially with all that hardware cramped together. This is the laptop that I bought for 580.

Looks like no; it's not listed under ports.

I believe you can add an m.2 drive by taking the whole back cover off. I'd say a 1-2tb hard drive plus a 256 m.2 would be the best combo. If you look at the other configurations of this same laptop, you'll see that some of them come with an ssd and a hard drive.

I got the Nitro 5 during black Friday/ cyber Monday. The one I got has these specs but was new and has 16 GB RAM for $699. I had read reviews on this computer before about expanding the hard drive. I believe you can have 2 SSD or 1 of each. Also this laptop is relatively light for a gaming laptop.

I believe this Dell was a better deal considering to be new and being Dell - better brand than Acer IMHO
