I have the 1080p one for a few weeks now as my work machine and couldn't be happier. Rreviews all state that it gets about 25-30% better battery than the 4k one. I can speak to my 1080p but not the 4k for sure, I easily make it through a whole day without having to charge it (Network Engineer), the only day i didn't make it, screen brightness was on 100%, screen is so nice i usually hover around 20-30% and its bright enough.

I've had a MacBook for the past 6-7 years and the main reason i love the Mac was the touchpad was so smooth and responsive in day to day use, this is the only PC I've been truely happy with touchpad wise.

I have this laptop with this config and you can't beat the form factor and screen for this price. If you're going to game or use this for high productivity app with high cpu usage - a repaste might be necessary. Some of the Dell's stock paste jobs are horrible and leads to high temps / throttling. If you run into throttling you should download Throttlestop or Intel's XTU app to drop the stock voltages to lower temps first. Check notebook review forums and google, there's plenty of info on this.

There is no 8th gen for the hq processors yet so this is the 'latest'

THANKS SO MUCH!!!!!!!

In for one!!!

I was kicking myself for not buying the 1080P version with same specs for $1199, glad I waited to get the 4K one for only $180 more.

What a great deal thanks so much!!

Good deal! If you haven't take advantage of you Chase Pay 10x yet, this might be a good chance. Go to Bestbuy BM stores and buy eBay GC with Chase Pay, if you have 3 Chase eligible credit cards, that will almost perfectly cover this ($400 each). Not sure if Walmart carry eBay GC if so you can do the same thing. If you have the CSR, this is at least a $180 saving.

People with 4K can disable touch in the bios to get better battery life, still not as good as the 1080 display (battery life) but that 4K is gorgeous

I should have been more specific but I meant it's not 6th gen. Usually I have seen majority of deals on eBay only for 6th gen in the past

How would this compare to the recent Costco deal but that one had 1TB SSD and 32gb ram for $1815 + tax.

I ended up getting that deal.
Overall, I like a lot of things about the laptop. However, mine is going back...I got coil noise.
Also, the webcam location sucks.

The 32gb of ram is great; plenty of room for After Effects and Cinema 4D running together :-)

I may try another XPS 15 to see if I can get one without coil noise OR hopefully there will be an update in February that I can go for instead.

For $400 less, I have no problems with 1/2 the SSD and 1/2 the ram. 512gb/16gb is more than enough for me.
