This is an excellent supplement, especially for all of you who purchased a 23andme recently (although I doubt many of you will have the results before the deadline).

As someone who has purchased Promethease reports before, we thought you'd be interested in a new opportunity to get up-to-date reports for free.

In the past, we always deleted your raw data within 24 hours. That meant you had to re-upload (and pay again) for every updated report. We now have improved infrastructure in place that allows you to upload your data once and then generate updated reports free of charge, whenever you want.

We added this infrastructure so we could use de-identified stored data to better assess the accuracy of the raw data produced by different companies, platforms and technologies. This will also allow us to provide the best, independent assessment of true vs. false data in future Promethease reports and add new features.

As a Promethease user you're probably familiar with the value of getting updated reports from time to time. SNPedia's content, upon which Promethease reports are based, doubles almost every year, and Promethease's interface is always improving to enable better searching, filtering and exporting options.

To support this new capability, we are now allowing free data uploads until December 31, as a holiday gift to our users. We invite you to re-upload DNA data for free now and receive a new report. You will be able to generate updated reports in the future without uploading or paying. To take advantage of this opportunity follow the simple steps below:
Go to https://www.promethease.com
Check all the checkboxes and click "I agree"
Click "Upload raw data" or "Import" it again.
When prompted, click the "Get free report" button.
If you want to get free updates in the future, enable the storage option which allows us to save your data and generate updated reports for you.
Pick a password for your account.
Wait about 5 minutes to receive your first report.
From then on, you'll be able to visit Promethease.com whenever you want, login to your account, and generate up-to-date reports for free. You can also delete your stored DNA data from the same page, at any time.

It's as easy as that.

Get started at https://www.promethease.com

Have more questions? Check out the FAQs.

Sincerely,

Mike Cariaso & Greg Lennon

HOWEVER, this is not exclusive to those who've used their service before. Directly from their website: Holiday Gift from Promethease: all uploads are free through the end of December 2017. See FAQ.

EDIT: For anyone concerned of any "long-term storage" (which you have to opt-in to), keep in mind, they only have access to the RAW reports, which in itself contains only ~.02% of your entire genetic blueprint. Data generated from 23andme is a composition of multiple "SNPs" [nih.gov], which are variations in particular regions they selectively search for. It is nowhere near (sadly) any full sequencing to potentially clone you laugh out loud. It's sufficiently unique to identify you, and establish genetic relationships, but there's absolutely no way any health insurance companies could gain access to this information and associate it with you without having something to compare it to. Discuss.

If you log in to 23andme, click on "tools", then "Raw Data", you can actually view the results of your DNA sample. To get a basic understanding of how it works, you can watch this video [youtu.be].

Just keep in mind, the raw data is literally the entire genotyping results essentially unique to you -- the same one 23andme used to provide you with heritage, relationship linkages, and health information. The only difference is this service goes a bit beyond of what 23andme offers, and links those results to SNPedia, which is a wiki/ compilation of studies that have been conducted on specific genes, but in an easy to navigate format, where you wouldn't have to look up each gene of interest individually.

Thanks DIVAD. My adult daughter was into this until the costs to keep proceeding became too much. With this I expect she can garner wanted additional information without breaking the bank.

Thank you for answering my question , I appreciate your answer. I assume there is a way to download this "Raw Data" then upload it to the other service .

I did the test the beginning of November and my results were available even though they didn't email me to tell me. I requested the raw DNA but it says it takes time and they will email me the link when it's available.

editted to add: Got my raw data from 23andme in about a half hour and this one took about 5 minutes....now reading and understanding it could take much longer.

I don't agree with this, the reason they use these SNPs is because these are the ones show polymorphisms. So people could use them for correlation/ association analysis. Even though they only account for a small portion of your genome they could tell a lot about your, including your likelihood of getting a disease.
