I know people now wear these as an outer layer, but they were never intended for this purpose. Besides, they are not even water-resistantUnderweather, unless you like to smell like a wet goose.
They work fine as an inner layer, even though they are quite thin as far as a down jackets go.

If no plans for rain, these are perfect for a light pack hike or camping trip since they compress down so easily.
