The other deal got marked as expired so I'm posting this again.

SSV4500 with 7' medium rod is $77.06 and SSV6500 with 10' heavy rod is $96.64 here:

https://www.walmart.com/ip/Penn-S...o/43929333

I think these are incredible deals considering the frontpage Amazon deal from last week had just the SSV4500 reel for $80.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

experienced saltwater and freshwater opinion:

5500 and lower reels = snook, red fish, jacks, etc. Tarpon yes tarpon. You don't need a bazooka!

6500 and up reels = larger spool capacity heavier drag for pulling up amberjack, grouper, tuna (small species), snapper, etc these have more accommodating drag system

ALL penn in this series are sealed for saltwater environments. Freshwater fisherman need not apply. These are not made for that.

Rods, medium and light = inshore

Long rods medium and heavy = shore fishing to allow LONG casts from beach (think surf fishing)

Short medium and heavy rods are meant for off shore and provide stiffness for PULLING up large fish

Very nice! I don't know what the Spinfisher V Rod retails for alone but the last Spinfisher V Reel deal for the 6500 was $63 at Amazon. If the rod alone is worth at least $35, which I'm guessing it is, then this is pretty sweet.

I picked up two. Planning to go crabbing up in the Bay Area [hopefully] so I'm looking forward to it. The issue is that I now have to buy braid Frown

BTW: don't forget to use Chase Pay and your Chase Freedom to for an additional 10% off (https://slickdeals.net/f/10887347-10-back-for-using-chase-pay-at-walmart-com) + 5% quarterly bonus

What's the most common size combo, easiest to resell? Just looking for Chase points.
Check Ebay sold listings? Probably the shortest 2-pc you can get which looks to be the 8' setup? The problem is that one is $118. So the next best might be the 10'....

Looks like a good deal for the 6500. Any idea on the specs on the 10ft rod?

if you want to use it for the boat, I would get a shorter one. The 10 ft would be more for surf fishing

It's rated "15-30lb" so sounds like Medium to Medium Heavy. Should be good for pier and surf fishing

Yeah, should be pretty good for that. Although, it might be overkill if all you're fishing for is mackerel Smilie

This would probably be more suitable for fishing off Pacifica Pier for crab, stripers, and salmon.

For sure, if you're on an open party boat, you'll probably get a ton of weird and disgusted looks and possibly piss other anglers off with your 10' long rod. hahahaha
