Dell Rebate - Proof of Purchase Barcode Question

3 10 December 9, 2017 at 09:05 AM
Hey guys,

I got a great deal on the Dell Inspiron 7000 Gaming Laptop on Black Friday from Dell.com, along with the -$150 off Slick Deals Rebate. I'm filling out my rebate form and had a question. It asks that I attach a proof of purchase barcode from the box it came in, but there like 4 barcodes on the box, so I'm not sure which to use. Should I use all of them just to be sure? Or is there a way to tell which one I need.

Sorry if this has already been asked/answered/is a noob question.

Thanks for any guidance you guys can give me.

All rebate forms are generic, you can refer to section #4 on the rebate form for a complete list of the required documents. If the UPC barcode is not listed there, you do not need to submit any barcodes.
For the rebates that require a barcode: if you click the link for the rebate form, on the first page you will see a section "barcode" it will list the required numbers for the correct UPC barcode. Hope this helps.

I bought a TV through Dell about three or so months ago. I am still waiting on the rebate. I was in the same situation. The box had three different UPC barcodes on it. I picked one randomly. My rebate was denied because they said I did not enclose the UPC barcode "label." Of course, there is no such thing as a UPC barcode "label." Repeatedly, their scanning team said the barcode was not sent. About a month ago, I asked that my case be escalated directly to slickdeals. Haven't heard a word and doubt that I ever will. However, I will call them again. To be certain, I will never make a purchase again that includes a slickdeals rebate. BTW, I did receive the 100 dollar rebate from Dell, which was part of the deal. All said, I wish you the best of luck. But it seems as if slickdeals has farmed out their rebate processing to some Asian country, and that never goes well.

Thanks. But barcodes on a dell box are barcodes for that product, are they not? The notion that there would be three barcodes on a dell box that was specifically made for an LG TV that refer to different products is not rational. For example, UPC codes are universal product codes. They do not refer to shipping information, the source of the product or anything else. I'm talking about three barcodes on one LG box that are NOT in the shipping label. These codes are all printed on the box in the same format, the same size. There may very well and likely are barcodes found on a box, but they are NOT UPC codes! At this point, it is slickdeals responsibility to contact LG for clarification. I'm quite certain LG will agree with me.

There are usually a few barcodes on the TV box where one of them is the required UPC barcode. The correct barcode for the TV rebate you have applied for has numbers 719192609914. Did you happen to save a copy of the UPC cutout?

I well know the difference between a UPC and other barcodes! How dare you! Do you think you're talking to the village idiot here? And no, it never occurred to me to save a copy of the UPC code. I entrusted slickdeals to do the right thing. They keep saying they never received the UPC code to begin with! Not my fault. I enclosed it. And for that matter, the invoice clearly showed the correct product, the purchase date and everything else. That should suffice. Pray tell, how is it even remotely possible to defraud slickdeals rebates in this manner? The invoice I sent them came directly from Dell! It was sent in an email from them! I forwarded the email to slickdeals. I;m quite certain that slickdeals rebate processing is capable of verifying its authenticity. The UPC code thing with slickdeals is nothing but bureaucratic tripe. I did my part. Slickdeals did not. I will NOT take responsibility for slickdeals rebate processing errors!
