If you want a cheap socket set and ratchet, HF has this one [harborfreight.com] for $3.75 with 25% off coupon or $4 with an always available 20% off.

I use mostly Hyper Tough for my job, doing appliance repair. Dealing with many stubborn screws and bolts, this brand hasn't given me any issues. I'd say I've had better experience than Harbor Freight's Pittsburgh brand when it comes to low priced tools.

Yep, so be sure YOU go and spend $10,000 on a socket.

We (who use these tools for the simple jobs) will stick with our walmart tools.

I have no problem with the performance of these. I am sure they meet the needs of 95% of us and I am a big fan of HF tools. That said why can't Wal-Mart come up with a better name than Hyper Tough on their private label tools? Which marketing intern cane up with that one?

Worth the extra 3.5$ and get the Stanley. I have one of theirs and it has kept up well through the years. Still clicks like a charm http://www.walmart.com/ip/18PC-3-...T/51433590

Bought 2 sets when they went on sale last year. Nothing wrong with them so far. Sockets are decent. Will work for 99% of people who need a ratchet now and then for small jobs.

I have that set and hate it. It eats up the bolt edges due to it's rough edges and imperfections. Worth it to spend more on a decent set imho.

I'm sure the sockets are fine, but those ratchets with the plastic back annoy the crap out of me. I would pay the extra $3 or $4 for a Craftsman metric set if it's for automotive work, SAE if it's for the house.

For someone who just wants an emergency set to keep at home and doesn't do many repairs, this should be fine. It comes with Metric and SAE so you can't really beat this price.
