Best Buy has a Ting GSM sim card with $30 Ting flexible spending credit pre-loaded for $9.99. This initself is a good deal, but for now, you should be able to combine this with the current $10 saving code for an in-store pickup of $10 or more. You just need to add a filler (make sure the filler is also something you can pick up in store).

Some fillers (all $1 sim cards - if you find better fillers, please share in the thread):

How does the $30 credit work? Could you just buy two and activate one at a time?

This is how Ting's plan works: https://ting.com/rates
Here is their help forum: https://help.ting.com/hc/en-us/co...Discussion
You could probably find the answer there.

No, Ting is expensive. If you don't use the service, you have to pay $6 plus tax monthly.

if you don't use the ting phone at all, this credit will be eaten in 5 months or less.

Some people love Ting. Some hate it. Ting is perfect for people that want to customize their plan based on their needs, and Ting comes with international coverage already built-in (many forget or don't know this). But, Ting isn't ideal for people who don't have any international coverage needs and tend to use a lot of calling, texting, and data. Then, it makes more sense for them to sign up with unlimited plan, etc. from other carriers.

No, it's not. You can activate when you are ready to use the service.

I am looking to get a cheap prepaid plan to port my landline number (eventually onto Google Voice so don't care about the service per se) - can I use this to accomplish my goal? Thanks!

Any idea that there will be a hard pull on credit when activating a new ting account? I will travel out of country next week, and consider to buy it, as the destination is included in international call free list. Thanks
