We have a similar set and we're quite happy with them. They hold an edge and seem to be very durable - I don't baby them like I probably would the super expensive chef's knives I look at from time to time. No complaints, especially at this price.

We've had a set of Saber knives for nearly 3 years and I just recently had to sharpen just one of them for the first time. Pity this set is missing the Filet knife, but still awesome knives for a great price. The steak knives just glide through meat with almost no pressure other than the weight of the blade.

I bought the fillet knife separately almost a year ago and it was absolutely worth it.

We are actually thinking about ordering this set to round out the set we have which is missing the cleaver and a couple of utility knives. This block is also better suited to our kitchen than the rotating one we have. If we were to piece it together, we would spend more than this set costs, and who couldn't use a few extra steak knives?

Does anyone know f this knife block is the universal type (where there are thousands of small plastic rods you simply push the knives into)? Or is this a wood block with custom size slots for each piece?
Thanks, I hate the universal blocks.

Same here, we bought the Filet knife alone... Cost almost half of what this set is going for.
