regardless of your hate for moto, this is still a good deal.

about updates..
I'm running Nougat on my Z Play.
I also have an X in the house which has Nougat

The Z Play is also on the list to get Oreo

I wish we could get over the MXP fiasco already. Wasn't this roughly when they were sold from Google to Lenovo? Either way, the Z line has been updated fine. No, they aren't the amazing 2013 or 2014 Moto X that were so great, but I really like my Moto Z Play.

Great phone, ok deal. Actually, this is probably close to the best price out there (didn't check personally), but I would have thought this phone would have dropped a bit more by now.

Wide LTE bands (LTE: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 17, 19, 20, 28, 38, 40), has NFC. I got this for $230+tax from Bestbuy excluding the cricket refill card price. Battery is pretty solid for 3-5 days.

I know the battery life is the big sell on this phone but how is the camera and does the phone perform ok as far as browsing speed and launching apps, etc?

Any idea how this performs vs say an LG V20?

I recently purchased both of these and kept the V20. Battery life on the Moto is practically double that of the V20, but I couldn't stomach the crappy camera or crappy headphone amp on the Moto. Browsing speed and launching apps is fine on both. Only while gaming or heavy use does the V20 have a perceptible advantage.

I figured the camera and audio were un-fixable with the Moto, but the battery was fixable with the V20 by purchasing a spare and swapping mid day if needed.

Thanks!!!!

Would you say you are happy with the V20?

It's taking a little getting used to coming from my HTC 10, with the larger size, volume controls on the wrong side for a right hander, and power button on the back. I got the ATT version from B&H photo for $300 so at least if I'm unhappy with it in a month I can send it back, but right now I plan to keep it.

Sweet. I was a little concerned about being able to root the newer h910 phones since dirty Santa root method got patched and I hadn't seen a working alternative prior to your link. Thanks a ton for that.

So is it working well for you with this root method or do you get any instability or random crashes and things like that?

Are you able to host a Hotspot without paying extra for it?

I just got it and am still moving over to it from my HTC 10 as a daily. Sorry I don't have enough time with it to give a good opinion. Have not tried to hotspot yet but did read it works fine.
