No kidding.

This is a great deal for a great burner. I have this and have been using it for 2+ years w/Nero. Its a workhorse. USB 2.0 may be slow, but we wont get a 3.0 burner for this price anytime soon.

this is a great deal, 10 years ago.

let's face it, any type of disk is a technology that is half dead. i completely stop using disks about 5 years ago, don't even crave it or can find the justification for it.

judging by the reception of the deal, i am not the only one who has no care for this deal.

perhaps a blue ray at $11 would get more traction.

Being a GOVT Contractor we have to burn disks for virtually everything since most GOVT computers won't allow Thumbdrives to be bought into the building or even used .. so for us each and every laptop we have (which normally does not come with a DVD player/burner for the very reasons you described earlier) needs to have one of these remote units .. so while the rest of the world may have stopped using DVD players and burners -- the US Govt uses them still daily ... hourly ...

that totally sucks. i would not be surprised if the GOVT is still running on Win 98 or XP too.

i get a lot of (for free) pc and laptops and a lot come with dvd burners . . . i look at that as floppy disk now. i have couple of xp servers that i am still running, only for them i still keep the dvd rom and os with software.

but i am sure as a contractor you will be writing the dvd burner Smilie

What about motherboards, video cards and other peripherals ? Aren't they still packed with driver disks ? And how about all the music cd's, video dvd's that people collected over the years ? Did they just trash them ?

i know when i was in military they always waited a safe 3 or so years before implementing a new OS and they ripped half the guts out of it. Seems they should be running windows 10 by now according to this https://www.army.mil/article/1626..._next_year

Got this FAR not too long ago, decent device would recommend getting only if you're in need of a DVD drive/burner. Not sure if it'll be FAR again anytime soon but if you don't see yourself using it right away then just skip it for now IMO

I'm no expert, but I think usb 2.0 is already way faster than DVD/CD read or write speeds.

Also looks like the promo code is dead at this point.
