19 grams sugar (which also leads to the poor carbs to protein ratio... Good chance of follow on cravings)... You already have the dates as first ingredient, they really should have skipped the agave nectar. Agave may sound healthier, but still just sugar, and still highly processed. Body doesn't care that it sounds cool (agave). Pretty much an organic candy bar.

I agree.
I don't unusually mind sugar if it comes from whole fruits, since unlike refined sugars it metabolizes differently and does not boost fat and cholesterol (assuming you are healthy to begin with) and dates are very healthy fruits generally. Though, refined and processed sugar from agave is not of any good. Also, they artificially boost protein content with processed rice protein.

It looks like these bars is the kind of product that screams "Look at me, I'm organic and healthy like other established healthy food brands!"
It is not.

Nutritionists haven't used the glycemic index for decades, they use glycemic load which accounts for fiber content. Dates aren't going to make you fat. I used to eat 1-2.5 lbs a day and was never anything but lean and muscular. They are very high in sugar and need to be consumed in relation to high impact exercise. So basically they're less than ideal for sedentary people.

Might as well just drink a Jolt cola, same amount of sugar but more efficient delivery

Incorrect. This still has nutritional value in protein, fiber, potassium, and vitamins and minerals. Although, the nutritional balance isn't good enough for me to buy, but it's far superior to cola.
