Fake thread count and fake use of Egyptian cotton marketing. These are not made from Egyptian cotton

Can you enlighten me as to why? I just ordered these before posting for my kid cuz I thought it was a great find. How do you know it's not 1800 from the listing? Apparently many others are far more educated on sheets than this single dad! I just thought a high number was good...

Generally high thread count is better but many brands are way off their official count. You'd have to research the brands to know for sure. I doubt you'll find useful info on a random one in Amazon.

Microfiber is a form of polyester, so these can't be both microfiber and cotton. Based on the reviews, I would assume microfiber is correct, in which you don't really pay attention to thread count.

I personally like microfiber but it does increase heat and usually decreases breathability.

Microfiber is polyester. Thread count really only comes into play with cotton.

A lot of these sellers try to trick you with terms like Egyptian Cotton or 1800-2000 thread count. At Wal Mart a 600 thread count cotton will cost you like $45-50+.

With that said, I'm cheap so I'm gonna try one of these microfiber sheet sets sometime soon cuz of the price. They get relatively good reviews for what they are. I'm fully aware that what I'm getting isn't what they have at the hotels though, and that this Egyptian Cotton isn't even cotton.

P.S. These look familiar. A full on here is $20.20. I've seen them last week on ebay for $20-22, so it's pretty regular price.

So an 11 year old won't complain, But they aren't as advertised is the summary?

I didn't buy my first set of sheets until I was like 25. I wouldn't know the difference. The reviews on microfiber are pretty good for what they are.

They are advertised correctly in the summary, but it's misleading because of the use of the term "Egyptian" and the thread count.

Notice how nowhere on that page is the word "cotton."

Next time you go to Wal Mart check out their bedding section. They have a couple of Microfiber sheet sets from their store brand "Mainstays" and one from Better Homes and Gardens/ Hotel Something. The Mainstays were $14.99 in full size, and the Better Homes and Gardens ones were $17.99 for a sheet set.
