IKEA TRÅDFRI smart bulb e12 (candelabra) $6.99

I don't know if this is a good deal or not, but it's definitely the best price I've found on this sized smart bulbs. $6.99 each + $10 shipping or they're also this price in store. The store near me had them $19.99 on the shelf but they rang up the right price at the register. Anyone have any experience with Ikea's smart products?

From what I've read, they work with some smart hub devices beyond just their own line.

This is the regular internet price for these. Some people have had problems getting the non color temperature versions to connect to Smartthings.

Even at regular price, these are a great deal comparably.

I can confirm that they work with Hue and Alexa. Just set mine up and, after a little trial and error, they work seamlessly.

Do you need the Ikea Tradfri Gateway/hub to connect these to Hue? I want to pull the trigger on these but would like to avoid purchasing the Gateway if possible. My understanding is that you need the Gateway to update the candelabra bulbs first before they'll work with Hue.

You don't need the gateway with these bulbs or any bulbs that have the updated firmware. My understanding is that these bulbs are new enough that they should all have the updated firmware out of the box (mine did)... You follow the steps laid out in the link below (minus the part about updating the firmware), and you're good to go. Worked perfectly for me.

Just an FYI if nobody knew, but the Ikea Gateway itself is now compatible with Alexa, I have it paired up this way and returned my phillips hue. The bulbs are not only cheaper at Ikea but also a tad bit brighter. For me though I don't require all the color changing stuff that the phillips hue has going on, and Ikea is supposed to come out with some themselves. Also LIFX I think is a better buy than phillips hue. Also living in Orlando, I'm only 20 minutes away from Ikea, go there almost every week.

Great price for E12 smart bulbs. They were out of stock at my local Ikea for quite a while so thanks OP for putting these back on my radar. Picked up a batch.

Our house is full of GU10 and E12 so it was a great discovery when I found the custom device handler in the SmartThings community forum for Tradfri bulbs.

Saved a ton of the money over the alternative (and over priced) bulbs.

Just wanted to follow-up and report that all 6 of these candelabra Ikea tradfri bulbs work with my Hue hub without requiring an Ikea gateway to update the bulbs. Just follow the instructions in the link from unoelgordo. Everything works flawlessly with Hue and my Echo to control on/off and dimming functions. Very pleased and much cheaper than Philips. I will look into more of Ikea's smart lights in the future.

Yes, from what I've read. You need to manually enter the 8 digit code from the bulb box in your home kit.

Only if the bulbs have the old firmware. Same deal as working with Hue. These should all have the updated firmware out of the box though. The other size bulbs that have been around longer are the ones that are more likely to need the gateway to update the firmware.
