Sucks that it requires a smartphone/tablet to play. I would have gotten one for my lil one.

No I don't think it's required, but you can do some cool stuff with a tablet/phone. We have a BB-8 and it works great with just the Force Band. What age is your little one? You could get a used Galaxy S4 - they go for about 30 now and would be a nice alternative to getting an expensive tablet/phone.

Speaking of the Force band, it was supposed to be included free, but now they are out of stock. Spoke to Target CSR tonight and he said they will be getting more in after 12/19 and if you order this now, just call back after the 19th to request your free band. YMMV, so do it at your own risk of course...

You beat me to it... yes, that was a different one (which I also got for $20). Sadly mine is still in the box... too much SW stuff, LOL!

It says if in stock it will be added to your cart. If not in stock it will not be listed with your order and may ship separately.

It says:
"Offer Details

Free Star Wars Force Band by Sphero when you buy a select Sphero Star Wars App-Enabled Droid item. Free item quantities may be limited. Not valid on previous orders. If the free gift item is in stock, the item will automatically be added to the order. If the free item is no longer in stock, it will not be listed in your order. Free item may ship separately. Free item will ship when order is completed. If a qualifying item in your order is returned, your refund value will be reduced by the prorated amount of the free item. Offer expires 12/24/2017 at 11:59pm PT."

I guess one could read the main point as either the item may ship separately, or that quantities may be limited. When it was not added to my order, I took it to mean they were not likely to honor it. But if they say they will, that seems promising.

Not wanting to take the chance, I drove a few minutes away to the nearest Target - they had one Force Band left, and a few R2-D2s, and some BB-8s and BB-9es left. And the in store signage indicated the deal was also available in store.

Nice deal OP - fingers crossed for those ordering online.

Sphero's website has the BB-8 special edition droid with the force band for $89.99. I signed up for their emails and received a 10% coupon, ROBOLOVE. Total came out to $81.00 with free shipping and no tax to me in WA. Hope this helps somebody.

Sphero recently has run a lot of promotions. The R2-D2 was on sale for $99.99 and extra 10% made it only $91 with free shipping no tax. However, the target one has the free force band.
