I've been using the 485 (almost the same) for about a year and it's been good....once it was setup. Print quality is good for business use. Obviously this isn't a true photo printer, but it does ok with normal day-to-day type stuff. Ink use seems reasonable and refill cartridges are dirt cheap. Here's the one I'm using at the moment:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DWMLDXA/

It's fully functional on Windows 10 but it may require a bit of tweaking for best performance. The drivers that Windows 10 installs automatically can sometimes lead to extremely slow printing (like <1 page/minute). The problem seems to be the WDS printer port. Switching to a standard TCP/IP port fixed it on another computer. But, the simplest fix is to just download the "Full Driver & Software Package" from Brother:

Not supported by Windows 10? My Canon all-in-one has been working fine until I got a new Windows 10 laptop. The system doesn't recognize it as a scanner. Found out that many older all-in-one models are no longer supported by Windows 10. bummer.... and shame that they don't support these machines working fine otherwise.... For the price I upvote the deal... but not for me.
Mine works fine in Windows 10 -
scanner - I use a photo editing program to scan in
or use the handy dandy buttons on the front of the AIO

Same price at Staples. How does it compares with Canon at BB?

I have the 825dw, and it works fine in Windows 10 too.

I regularly buy 3rd party ink off Amazon. it's something like 14 bucks for 8 cartridges or sometimes better.

but even the OEM cartridges aren't bad compared to others.

Hmmm, we've been needing a new printer and I've heard brother is a good brand. I'm wondering if I should go ahead and get this one.

Have this. It's very inexpensive. I use "Office World Compatible Ink Cartridge Replacement for Brother" from Amazon. $10.99 for 3 extra large black refills and 1 of each color. Yeh they scan to pdf. I control the printer with their app to email the documents to myself.

I bought this printer this morning. Definitely works with Windows 10. Brother has drivers on their website for Windows 10 32-bit and 64-bit.

I used the Brother MFC 685 (if I remember the model correctly) for a long time. It's a very good printer with cheap replacement catridges all over the place on internet. I'm planning to buy this one as I had to dump my old printer. Does this work with MacBook as well? TIA.

Is the J485DW more advance?

Best Buy has theJ485DW for the same price [bestbuy.com]

It's a derivative model, meaning exclusive model for best buy to sell. It's essentially the same as the j480fw
