Looks nice. Amberella Chipset - Not the Exmor by Sony, so maybe not as good for night time. Wifi is a nice plus. I would not opt to buy the sep GPS, because I think it can work against you. Supports up to 128GB microSD which is a plus. I suggest a card made for high endurance though, and not seen good deals for 128GB ones so far. But prices always getting better. 170 degrees view will show some pin-cushioning no doubt.
Overall I think it is a good deal.

You seem to know about dash-cams Smilie

Would you by any chance know a good way to connect an external battery so I can use the parking mode feature?

I own this one... fortunately my last dash-cam I had hardwired used the same mini-usb port so I did not have to hardwire this one. I'm just not sure how to get an external battery connected to it or how to go about it.

Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated Smilie

I've thought about this myself for parking coverage with G-Sensor mode or constant power. I have not researched a solution though. I am thinking an A/B switch so you can have the battery hooked up at all times and switch over from Car power to batt.

Still many batteries require a button press to start the power for them. Simpler might be unplug the connector on the cam from car and plug in one going to the battery. Just not elegant. I would suggest you check on Youtube if you haven't. I bet there are better solutions from good hackers.

You can use "dash cam power cut off module" (it cuts off power when your car battery goes below 11.8v to make sure you can start your car)

or you can use external battery(capacity depends on how long you need it to depend on external power source) but that set up requires much more complex setting because you need to charge it only when your car is running and not draw power off of your car battery when your car is off.

Idk how much power is needed for this Vantrue dash cam but most likely, your car battery should be able to handle about 12-16 hours of recording with power cut off modules.

This exact cam has been 89.99 all week on amazon because of $40 off coupon. So far seems like a good cam for the few days I've had it installed - the GPS addon is $20 on amazon....it'll only work against you if you're speeding - simple solution, don't speed.

Repped for this info. Hope the other person does rep you as well. Will research when I get serious about the setup. My radar detector has this capability in case I leave it on. I wonder if they make some dash cams with the feature built in? I bet they do. If not, they should.

They do but the price goes up high. Korean dashcams companies such as Urive, Finevue, BlackVue, iNavi makes dashcams(they call it "blackbox") that has overnight recording features and those dashcams have significantly lower wattage consumption but most of those high-end dashcams start high $300s. So it really comes down to how much you love your car haha.

I own a FineVue product but Im not really liking it so Ive been looking into Urive Albatross 4.

Youll find plenty of recording quality tests on Youtube if you just search for the brand names like Urive/FineVue.
