Amazon has the Moto X4 Prime Exclusive Device at $279.99

that is a savings of 30% of MSRP and it is the lowest price yet found anywhere. The device is compatible across all carriers including project Fi.

good price for the phone. but i still do not understand what makes the X4 worth well more money than the G5 Plus. they're quite similar.

I was about to say the same thing...what REALLY differentiates this from the Moto G5 Plus? I really don't understand who they're trying to compete with on this. It's really not worth the almost $100 difference.

Well I do agree with you that the G5 Plus is a great device and as you can see with the Amazon rating it has done well I would state that there are significant differences on the Moto X4 Device vs. the G5 Plus including IP68 technology which will protect your phone from water damage, a better camera on the X4 12 MP + 8 MP dual rear cameras and 16 MP front-facing camera vs. a 12 MP HD camera or snap group shots with a 5 MP wide-angle selfie cam on the G5 Plus. Also the chipset is stronger on the X4 as it provides a 2.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 Octa-core processor vs. a 2.0 GHz 625 Octa-core processor.

IMO the value is there especially at a discount as steep as this

Not only does it has adds, but removing those is not easy. Also from what little research i did, its not possible to unlock the bootloader and root to get custom rom support.
Also, in case you want to remove the adds in future, you need to pay a fee to Amazon but still cant unlock the bootloader or root.

Saving $70 isnt worth with these issues. But thats just my opinion. YMMV

I wish my G5 Plus had USB-C and NFC. The processor isn't much of an upgrade for the normal MSRP though.

Thanks for explaining, though differences are vague for some people. I think that X4 has a lot of negative reviews because people still expect a lot more for the price difference (at $400 MSRP) over the G5+

Lock screen "offers and ads" = pass for me.

Would love a deal on a non-Amazon'd one.

I had the g5, I have the x4 now. Alexa baked in is great. Best feature for me hands down.

Yeah, the deals on the G5 plus are a better value. Kind of weird with the X4, when they already have the Z/Z2 play, etc. If someone is going to pay close to msrp on the X4, might as well pay the extra for a OnePlus 5t.

Really? The Alexa on moto x4 is a special version. It can't do a lot of things. And it got triggered all the time if you active it. I ended up turning it off for good because it's just too annoying.

My want of USB C is offset by the million extra micro USB cables I've accumulated. Kinda agree of NFC though but I'm not going to pay $100 for it
