Question regarding Amazon Echo & Dot when using multi-room music w/bluetooth.

Tonight I tried grouping 2 Amazon devices to play multi-room.

This involved a Echo and Echo Dot. The Dot was hooked to a bluetooth speaker.

When applying the multi-room in settings, the Dot was no longer able to be heard via bluetooth and who wants to listen to music from a Dot alone. I kept playing with it, thinking I did something wrong only to find out online that when grouping devices for multi-room, it doesn't work with bluetooth. I'm thinking since they are connected and the Echo, which doesn't have bluetooth capabilities, is involved, is the reason why the bluetooth cuts off.

Anyone know of a work-around? Each device is in a different room.

Thanks.

get an aux cable and connect the speaker to the dot that way and it will work. if you get more dots you will need to wire them as well if you want the audio to come out of the speaker instead of the dot when playing as a group.

I have another question. I ordered the cable from Amazon and it should come Thurs. Thanks again for the info., but when you group them together, can you speak to either and ask it to do things?

If I'm in one room, can I ask it to play such and such music and then walk into the other room and set a timer? So the timer will go off on both and I can tell it to stop on either device?

I guess I'll find out Thursday Smilie but thought I'd ask anyway.

As far as I know, timers are specific to the device you set them on, so you'd have to be near that one to manage it, but I could be wrong.

Thanks. I was wondering since they were grouped, if they would act as one device. Too bad that wouldn't work. Dang.

Oh well, have a good rest of the night...what's left of it.
