I felt these towels in store prior to this "deal" and they are very thin (they've been this price or close to it many times before). FWIW I was replacing a towels and didn't feel these were adequate for myself or guests.

I bought one of these to get the free shipping once. I had purchased some other TH ones on clearance that faded, discolored, pulled, etc. But, these did not do that. And it's actually held up beautifully in the wash. I am a fabric snob and I recommend them without reservations.

As far as thickness, I would say they are medium. I prefer even thinner towels... yes, I said it. I am a weirdo who washes my towels after every single use, and with thin bath towels, I don't have to run them in the dryer seventeen times. Also, they are much easier for wrapping my hair in them, etc, etc. As far as texture, thin towels do not mean scratchy. These are 100% cotton, albeit not Turkish, but for bath towels, they're perfect. IMHO, thicker towels are only nice for hand towels.

ETA: I don't know whether this price is necessary a steal. I have thicker towels that I have bought for less from Walmart, but I don't recommend them because they are too thick. And, if you are looking for thin ones, you can find those for much cheaper than this. This is a solid, average towel in my opinion, except I do not care for the colors or stripes.

It's a shame these are Hilfiger-branded.

It seems this (poor or sub-standard quality for the brand) is becoming the 'norm' when a company changes hands (or licenses it's name). Frown

Not the best towels. Noticeably thinner compared to Ralph Lauren for example

It actually is, regardless of the quality.. and I find it hard to believe they could be that bad (for those who said such). The cheapest you can find ANY brand of towel (WM included) is about $3.. and it's not hard to imagine the quality of those. I seldom see clearance towels at TJ MAXX for less than about $6. I'm just going to do in-store pickup, and inspect them to see if they're worth $5 bucks... Just my take

And they do have a 4-star rating out of 1,300 reviews on Macy's site.. we shall see/feel Smilie

Thanks, OP

I'm going to store to check these out... seems odd the comments here don't match up to the reviews on their own site.

At that price...you can't lose. Especially if you add the $3 beauty product (free shipping) If your thinking $5 is a lot of money, save it for your priorities.

Anyone know of any good long, soft and thick towels. I had purchased some from kmart years ago that were great and went and got some of the exact same ones last year and they are noticeably thinner and not absorptive.
