Costco deal is dead 3/4/18

PSA from dealgirl1 : Do *NOT EVER* pay any extra out of pocket, nor split payment of tickets (i.e. don't buy two tickets at once, even if they say they know how to split it correctly). There have been too many reports of this type of ban recently, and in most cases, the person banned didn't know they were doing anything wrong.

FAQs for Costco-MoviePass-Fandor Promotion

What is MoviePass?
MoviePass is the nation's premier theatrical subscription service. For $9.95 per
month, our members can see one standard 2D movie every calendar day.

How do I sign up?
Costco members sign up through the Costco.com website (www.costco.com [costco.com]). Upon
successful enrollment, you will be sent a promo code for MoviePass and Fandor. Next, you
enroll on the MoviePass site (www.moviepass.com/costco [moviepass.com]) and Fandor site
(www.fandor.com/promo/costco2017 [fandor.com]) and use the promo code. You will then be sent a
MoviePass Debit Card, which you will use to redeem your movie tickets from the box office.
Your credit card is required for renewal at end of the one year term. By using the promo code
provided by Costco, you will not be charged again until the one year term expires.

How do I activate my MoviePass card?
Once your MoviePass card arrives in the mail, log into the MoviePass app with your
email address and password. The app will then request the last 4 digits of your MoviePass card
number in a pop-up box, enter the last 4 digits and your subscription will fully activate and your
billing date will adjust as well!

Are there any restrictions?
Your unlimited MoviePass subscription from Costco allows you to see one standard 2D
movie every calendar day at any participating theater. We currently do not support (in part or
entirety) any enhanced or special screenings that involve an upcharge at the theater. Examples
of these would include 3D, IMAX, Fathom Events, DBOX, ETX/RPX, film festival screenings,
etc.
Your MoviePass card can only be used to purchase a ticket to the screening listed on your
check-in. Using your card to purchase a different ticket is against our terms & conditions, which
can result in your account cancellation.

My MoviePass was declined. How can I see my film?
If your MoviePass card is declined, just contact us through the chat feature. We can
quickly troubleshoot the issue with you to get you into your film.
Can we reserve our seats in the app?
At theaters where reserved seating is available, e-ticketing will also allow you to
select your seat in advance. These theaters are indicated by a red chair icon.

How does the promotion work?
Members of Costco are being offered a discounted subscription to MoviePass bundled
with a subscription to Fandor. The price for the bundle is $89.99 for one year. After the year,
FAQs for Costco-MoviePass-Fandor Promotion
the subscription will convert to MoviePass' and Fandor's regular monthly package. This special
package is only available for new MoviePass members.

Do I have to be a Costco member to receive the special package pricing?
No, you don't have to be a Costco member to purchase this special offer. Non-Costco
members can purchase from Costco.com with a 5% surcharge at checkout. To avoid this
charge, you may sign up for a Costco membership online.

What is Fandor? Do I have to sign up for that separately?
Fandor is an entertainment streaming service especially for film lovers. To sign up, go
to www.fandor.com/promo/costco2017 [fandor.com] and use the special promo code provided by Costco.

I'm a Costco member and I just signed up for the MoviePass limited special offer a
couple weeks ago. How can I get the Fandor service added to my subscription?
The bundled offer through Costco can be purchased and applied to your account at the
end of your current subscription. Once your current membership ends, you can redeem your
Costco promotional offer at www.moviepass.com/costco [moviepass.com]. There's no expiration date for the
promo code once purchased. You are also able to use the Fandor promo code right away.

I never received my promo code from Costco. What do I do?
If you have issues receiving your email, look in your spam folder or you can access your
purchase here: Digital Order Portal. Simply enter your Costco.com order number and the
email address used on your purchase. Your order number can be found on your confirmation
email from Costco.com or on the Order Status & Shopping History section of your
Costco.com account.

I completed my MoviePass subscription using the promo code from Costco and now my
credit card was charged. How do I get a refund?
Refunds can be handled through your Digital Order Portal.

I am a monthly MoviePass subscriber. Can I get the Costco deal?
Yes, you enroll for the Costco promo code at www.Costco.com [Costco.com]. Then you would
sign-up for a new account at www.moviepass.com/costco [moviepass.com] using the promo code.
You must use a different email address from the address used for your monthly subscription.
After you are successfully enrolled in the program, you can cancel your old monthly subscription
in the MoviePass App. cancellation instructions Keep in mind that MoviePass cards are
expected to be fulfilled 2 weeks after registration.

Can I send this as a gift?
Yes, when you checkout online at costco.com, gift messaging will be available.

FAQs for Costco-MoviePass-Fandor Promotion

When can I expect my MoviePass card to be delivered?
Your MoviePass card will be printed and sent 2 weeks after registration

When I signed up a few minutes ago 12/12/17. It said they should arrive by 12/26/17

To the best of my knowledge the limitations MoviePass places on its members are
-No 3D nor IMAX movies
-Only one movie per day

After signing up for MoviePass they will send you a MasterCard debit card. You will need to activate the card. Then when you are in proximity of the theatre you will need to check in on the MoviePass app and select which movie you want to see. MoviePass will then load the card with the ticket price and you will proceed to the box office where we will run the card like any other MasterCard.

Movies cannot be purchased days in advance. It is for the same day purchase only. So if you are wanting to see a new movie that just got released, it is highly likely that the desired time you want will not be available.
You have a better chance to go to that movie 1 to 2 weeks after release.

^^^THIS is alternative facts. I have personally seen three new release movies the day after they released with zero problems (Star Wars The Last Jedi, Justice League, Thor Ragnarok).

I bought one for myself and my son a month ago, and late last month I upgraded to the annual plan.

Last week got billed for both monthly and annual for the pass, while the plan shows still monthly and when I opened a ticket for refunding the monthly payment and updating the account to reflect annual plan.

Its been 7 days and I have tried to update every 2 days or so with regards to the status. Absolutely no response.. the customer service service is horrible, no phone and only zendesk tickets that dont get answered, I am almost planning to approach paypal for a refund.. buyer beware

---------------------- Added this as a caution for lack of customer support (actually non-existent) ---------------------------------- (lvsniper)

Our experience is very similar with customer service. If you buy a ticket hoping for reimbursement, don't hold your breath, we had issues on 3 different occasions and each time no credit, which is very disappointing. If you pay for your ticket, don't expect the customer service to reimburse or even get back to you timely. Just a head's up.

The clear benefit here is that Costco might play favorable middleman if something goes wrong with these companies before the year expires. For example, they might refund the purchase if MoviePass goes belly up in 6 months.

Definitely not a guarantee, but given Costco's insanely generous customer service, not a stretch either.
I was thinking of getting this for the wife, but the 12 month advance purchase does concern me if Movie Pass can't sustain this model. Hmmmm

Looks like they're not mainstream movies/shows:
"streaming service with the largest collection of independent films, documentaries, international features and shorts"

Started moviepass a month ago. Made it to Lady Bird, The Florida Project, and the Disaster Artist.

I went to one movie in the past year (The Big Sick) because of the ridiculous pricing.

Now I'm a big supporter of this model. Plenty of movie theaters near me. And I have no desire to torrent. So you feel better about yourself as well Smilie

You pay with separate MoviePass debit cards, and they just give you regular movie tickets. You could give them to whomever you like.

I definitely like the idea of Costco backing this offer. I bought $100 in gift cards to a local restaurant from Costco--I think I paid around $70. It was actually 2 $50 gift cards. We used about $30 on one card and then the restaurant went out of business. I went to Costco to see if I could get money back for the unused $50 gift card. They actually refunded my entire purchase price.

I'm sure this is covered in MP thread but I wasn't able to quickly find it. If I buy two memberships, can I make both the purchases myself using the two cards? I would like to get for me and my wife, but I would be the one buying the tickets in the morning on the way to work for a show later in the day. Or do we both need to be there?
The app is somewhat buggy, so you can only have one login per phone and you need the phone to check in at the theater before buying the tickets. I have read that if you have some method of having two copies of the same app with different data stores, like with Secure Folder on the Galaxy S8/S8+, then you can have two logins on the same phone and still have the app work, but haven't tried it yet. Pro tip: even if you only have one account, make sure to force quit the app when you're done with it (after you've bought your ticket), unless you like logging in every time you open it.

I think you cannot signup for couple of months if you cancel your subscription. Last time I checked.

You can checkin from the app on your account and log out and check-in on the second account. You have 30 minutes to buy the tickets after you check in the first time.
I purchase both tickets at the same time at my local Regal.

So, for a family of four, I would need to purchase a quantity of 4?

That's true, though remember the one login per phone issue, and there's wording in the TOS that says they can cancel your subscription if they see you switching phones too much. Also, buying tickets for others is technically against the TOS as well, but they really don't have any way of checking what you do with the ticket after you buy it. My guess is that wording is there to discourage people buying tickets and reselling them, rather than say one person buying tickets for different companions on different trips, which still is against the rules but would probably not be worth their time to pursue.
