While, in general, it is quite reasonable (and recommended) to approach the seller claims with a health dose of skepticism, it is also important to know/research before you make generalized statements like that.

The truth is, Convoy is pretty much the lowest-price reputable flashlight maker with good quality. Not only that the specs on Convoy S2+ is accurate, but there is simply no comparison in that price range. The host (mechanical body) is really good, the LED is an actual CREE vs the LatticeBright clones, the drivers are good and efficient. In general it is highly modable, with something like $25 parts from MtnElec you can make it a 3-LED Nichia hotrod with 3000+ verified lumens.

The next step up would be BLF A6, which is very similar, but comes with a slightly better led, a nicer driver and a great 30Q battery; or Wowtac A1S which comes with a good battery that has USB charging capability. After which, probably you can go to an Emisar D4, which is a tiny hitrod with 3500+ lumens and awesome ramping Narsil driver, or Emisar D1 or D1S if you want a smallish flashlight that can light up a tree 1km away, or a Skilhunt H03 if you want a very versatile right angle light with magnetic base. Then the options unfold exponentially as you exceed $50 mark, going from BLF Q8 to Wizard Pros to Klarus and Convoy Throwers to the BLF Giggles (GT) and beyond.

Yes I have a bunch of these, my guilty pleasure.

A fair warning, do not go around buying random 18650 batteries as they are really dangerous. They can start hard-to-put-out fires and rapidly release extremely toxic fumes if you do the wrong thing. In doubt, go with protected cells from reputable suppliers. Amazon, due to fakes, is not a reputable supplier for 18650 cells. Neither is *fire brands - except for a few, but until you know what they are, avoid. Buy them from Mtn Elec, Int-outdoor, or li-ion wholesale (it is a generic name but a specific website). I -think- banggood batteries are also good in general, not sure about gearbest. A good cell is not that expensive considering the risks, it is $6 per cell for a high capacity, high drain unprotected cell, and around $10 for protected versions.

Do not get a random charger either, I think the cheapest good charger is the Liitokala 1 cell ones (<$5). If in doubt, you can get a flashlight with integrated USB. They are not that great and are kinda more expensive, but they are indeed convenient. The cheapest I think is one of the Wowtacs (pretty good), or a Astrolux S42, which has great Nichia leds but a otherwise terrible driver with the worst efficiency.

The Convoy S2+ is the light to beat in the sub-$10 price range. The last one I ordered from GearBest (I have a bunch of them) was $6.99 shipped and arrived in 17 days.

The Convoy S2+ is brighter, has better components and electronics, better build quality, nice little touches like a glow-in-the-dark O-ring around the bezel, and works perfectly with 18650s.

Anker is a great brand, and this light is solid, but there are better options for the same price.

I have this and it's a bright, solid little flashlight. Getting another to keep in my glovebox. Thanks OP!

If you're going to use the 18650 batteries, it looks like there is a lot of play within the tube. Not sure what that'll mean to actual use or rattle, but I'll stick with the Chinese made SupFire's I've got. They have a good bright beam and work nicely with the 18650 batteries.

I'm really interested in trying to take advantage of this deal, while the sale is still going. Does anyone know of any good deals on the batteries this flashlight uses? And can you use rechargeables with this flashlight? If someone could offer up a battery suggestion, or a link, that would be great.

And much thanks to the OP for posting this deal on here for others to see!

Just google 18650. Those are the rechargeables you should be using with this flashlight. Just be careful. Don't cheap out and have one explode or it will be a disaster.

Although you can also use Eneloop AA batteries. Buy those at Costco.

If you need a decent little light, get this one. Can't see how you'd be disappointed at this price. Repped.

As long as the batteries are still in good shape (aren't over discharged/physically damaged), you are good to use the cell in other applications.

Just keep in mind that any time you need multiple cells, dedicate those cells for the application (marrying cells). Married cells can be split (just like what you're doing with your original battery).

Not really considering this is sold by AnkerDirect. Dash credit only works for sold from and ships by Amazon items.

These work fine with 18650s as well. I've got two of them. You're right, there is a little rattle since the cylinder needs to be large enough to accommodate the 3x AAA adapter as well. To fix the rattle I just wrap a rubber band around the top of the 18650. Problem solved.

Might have bought one if they hadn't had the Convoy S2+ for $6.99 from Gearbest a few weeks ago. Prefer straight 18650 to 3x AAA models anyway.
