Victorinox Fibrox Pro Chef's Knife, 8-Inch Chef's

One of the better kitchen knives around; very popular among chefs and home cooks.

Lowest price in the last year has been $30 on ccc, so this is pretty good.

I paid 40 for this and it was worth every penny. Best knife I own hands down. Got a honing steel to help it keep its edge for 8 bucks as well

This is the most disappointing knife in the set for me. If just feels too thin and flexible. To top it off, the entire length of the blade had a light bow to it from the beginning, making it difficult to cut even slices. It's like the knife wanted to go wherever the hell it wanted to go. So I contacted Victorinox and their response was to send it back to them (at my expense) and they would attempt repair. They also wanted me to be aware that there would be minimum repair charge of $10. I love the set but Vicotrinox' response left me feeling disappointed. Compare that to my customer service experiences with Breville (who unceremoniously sent me a full new set trays, grill, and drip pan for the toaster oven because the pizza pan was starting to flake off), KitchenAid (who sent me a set free beaters because the original beaters that can with the blender seemed to have a slight wobble), and Fissler who replaced their Magic Can Opener for free since first one had gone dull after about a year. No questions asked. No returns. Nothing. That's the kind of service I was hoping from Victorinox too.

Bought back almost 8-9 years ago when it was $20. Well worth it, even at this price point.

Wow this person really does! Or probably abuses the heck out of whatever they buy.

This is absolutely the best utilitarian knife you can buy for the money. I have the ten inch (not for everyone) and it takes sharpening well and holds an edge for a very very long time.

Also it's not super high carbon steel so you can leave it wet for a little while without having to worry about rust. Still, don't run this or any knife through the dishwasher. They are so easy to clean by hand that there's really no excuse for that.
