I am going to start my tomatoes, eggplant, and peppers shortly. What are you growing?

Sorry if you were serious. I thought you were just trying to get a bunch of comments so your deal will become popular. I'm growing mint and Thyme and basil. And with the seed starter pack I'll try lacinto kale and arugula and lavendar. Can you believe I planted 12 brussel sprout plants in my backyard last year and didn't get one brussel sprout. I'm hoping the AeroGarden will finally cure my black thumb

Thanks for the courteous reply. I have grown 60-70 tomatoes each year for the past 30 years. I usually can as many as 20-30 quarts of tomato juice a year.
Glad to see you are growing herbs since they are so expensive. Kale is almost indestructible. You may want to think about planting cabbage if you like Brussel sprouts. It is pretty easy to grow and gives rise to tiny brussel sprout growths after the head is removed. I wonder if it gets too cold for brussel sprouts in Missouri? We don't go below 32 very often in Calif. central valley. However these cole crops as you well know need many cold days (below 40F) to mature. Hope you have better luck. I envy your $60 deal.

PS. I never intentionally try to stimulate comments but I do a lot of conversation like we are having in many posts.

I purchased 1 last month for the spouse, but end up return because only good for indoor herbs. My plan build a hydroponics to growth lettuce and other varieties.

They are very limited in room. My homemade one's from old lumber 4' x 2' is 30+ years old in the shop with a heater coil and is used to start summer crops. I think they are more fun to customize anyway. My biggest mistake was not making a wire mesh cover. A rat came in and ate all my tomato and eggplant starts. You have to be hungry to eat over 100 3 inch starters in a feeding. Good luck.

Yes herbs are so expensive and healthy, I'm excited to hopefully finally have success with them. I just learned this year that many herbs are perennial, and my chocolate mint comes back in my backyard every year! I didn't know that about cabbage, I may try that soon

Usually after you harvest the cabbage it will grow back 4 tiny cabbages the size of brussel sprouts. One of our friends of the family would take the flowering blooms of the later broccoli harvest (multiple harvests on broccoli) and decorate his salads. Here is a useless fact. One of the producers of the James bond series, Cubby Broccoli, claimed his family brought the vegetable first to the US. My favorite herb is basil. You can smell it yards away. Nearly indestructible. Dill helps keep insects away. Everything hates dill except me.

Like Bargain said, if you like cruciferous veggies like brussel sprouts and kale then cabbage would be the next thing to try. Long germination rates and a need for cooler weather coupled with pruning requirements make them a tough thing for most gardeners.

You guys might want to try grafting next year. Tomato tops will graft to potato base stems and you will harvest both veggies as they are from the nightshade family. Grafting in general is not particularly difficult once you get the basic concept.

I also picked up the smallish set up to work on with my son. I took my 4' grow lights and heating pads downstairs finally and wanted to have something to maintain daily still. I have several things I use for growing and starting seeds in the basement. Next to make my own mini hydroponic system for growing random stuff over the winter. Gotta get my greenhouse up and row covers put together so I can get a really early start next year. What I learned this year is to not try to grow 5 different varieties of everything and 100 different things in a year as it doesn't always work out and there is never enough volume to do any canning. Still got to do a little lacto fermentation pickling, but can't wait till I am putting up 100 quarts of my veggies every year if not a couple hundred.

I went to my local Home depot last night and they had 3 new ones on a display by the garden section. The only reason I purchased it was that the $5 garden coupon that they email you works on it and you get the Extra seed starter thing included that can do 36 seeds for tomatoes, etc.. So I was able to justified It for $55... I felt that's the most I would have spent on it. Honestly, it should MSRP for $60!!! I guess at $55 it will be fine and my expectations are in check.
