These are absolutely horrible for your cats. They cause renal failure. I unfortunately know from experience.

These are treats not food.. Any dry food can be unhealthy for your cat even grain free. Most grain free cat food just substitute the grain with starch instead which is just as bad..

You just need to make sure your cat has plenty of fresh water, feed wet food as much as possible, and keep treats and dry food in moderation.

Any suggestions for a healthier treat alternative?

get the 16oz deal instead for less than $4 so you can use dash button credits

possibly lowest price ever on the 16oz excluding local deals with coupons, certainly easier

got a year's worth, cats won't touch any dry food I try to give them

A can of wet food. Cats get most of their water from their food, so it would help their kidneys. I've heard that any can of wet food is better than the most expensive dry food, but then I've heard that dry food helps clean teeth. I give my cats wet twice a day with a treat of a small amount of dry food when I get home.

I don't know the absolute healthiest option other than making your own food (which has also been debated), but I am a firm believer that temptation treats will probably decrease your cat's lifespan.

We had two cats that both enjoyed them as an occasional treat. One cat, Simba, soon developed diabetes. Both suddenly became ill. Simba wouldn't eat at all until offered temptations. He refused all other food. Zack ate regular food and recovered. Simba died shortly afterward, despite previously being the younger, more active, and by all appearances, healthier cat.

Not a large enough sample size I know, so...

Exclusive dry food cause kidney stones in cats. Canned wet food is best with more nutrition. Only dry food we give is the dental treat for cats for snacks. Wet food gets caught in the teeth and cause tartar buildup.
