It's back again. Lowe's has the Kobalt 10in table saw marked down to $179 from $279. Last time this was listed was over the summer. This saw is excellent for the home handy-man.

I've had this saw for a couple years, and it's pretty decent. The only thing I really dislike is the fence which is kind of a big deal for a table saw. I wish Kobalt would have spent a little more time/money on the fence because it would be well worth the extra cost. Once it's squared and locked in it's pretty solid though. I'd love to see Home Depot have another $199 deal on the Delta version with the better fence, coated table, and detachable stand.

Add a coupon and its a great table saw for weekend warrior. If its your first. Do yourself a favor and research table saw safety on youtube. Its the most likely shop accident (and bad ones!) you will see.

Then watch the Micro Jig Grr-Ripper videos, you might get back some confidence. Smilie

I bought this saw which is made by Delta.
It's well thought out and good for $179.
However, the biggest flaw is that the table has a dip in the middle.
In fact, the display model and all of them seem to.
This was screwing me up.

I ended up returning it and breaking the bank buying the DeWalt 7491RS.
On tool storage is not as well thought out and no storage for additional blades, but everything else about the saw was better.

If I was on a very limited budget, I would snatch this up at $179.

Do you use? I have an issue taking off guard and pawls to use the Gripper...

$20 coupon makes this $159+tax, wonder if it's worth jumping on at this price.

This, and apply the Lowe's coupon to make it $159.

TECHNICALLY, you don't have to but that severely limits the gripper usefulness.

I would not recommend taking off guard and pawls/splitter especially on these type of saw with questionable fence.

I have took off my guard/pawls on my saw since it is hefty saw with Unifence which I check trueness once a year for fun (I have not made any adjustment for about 5 years so far) using my dial caliper. It has zero deflection and the fence length is like 52 inches so I KNOW the stock will be kept straight even past the blade, but on these saws with tiny fences, I would not have confidence enough to pull those extra safety features.

It is an excellent overall table saw. You can find a Dado Insert Plate from amazon from $30. I was patient and found it onsale with a coupon for $18

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...UTF8&psc=1

The other item I highly recommend is building yourself a decent table saw sled. I made mine out of 3/4" sanded plywood and it has been a lifesaver.

The fence on this is perfectly fine . . . it just takes a bit of effort to get it square. But once you do get it squared in, you can simply unlock the extension wing and move it to your desired location and relock it in place.

Best budget value table saw I've come across.
