Yeah, i had the same thought. However, as this is for my wife i felt comfortable saving the 250 bucks and not going for the next model up with 8gb of ram and larger gard drive, which would run $970 on amazon with the student coupon.

She currently has the surface pro 3 with 4gb of ram and it works fine for her as she mostly sticks to running microsoft office programs, watching netflix and doing normal web browsing.

Think you have to decide on a case by case basis.

Depend on how you use your computer. If you the kind of person that to keep as many browser tab open, then you will never have enough ram.

If you just open few programs at a time and only look at very few websites at a time, then probably enough.

Doesn't this have the Windows 10 RT-ish new thing they came up with? That only installs Windows Store games?

Yeah i figured this would have been a more popular post, perhaps i should include the price for the 8gb ram / 256 ssd model in the body of the post. I did a search of older posts on SD and couldnt really find a better price.
