You won't get more than 10-15 minutes of battery life out of the thing. I did buy upgraded batteries and that helped a bit. The main drawback for this drone is the fact that you need a phone to pilot it. The program is a disaster and the controls are awful.

I sold mine last year and don't regret it. It's more of a chore to fly this thing than it is fun IMO. The biggest pain was getting out of WiFi range and having the drone fly off on it's own. The range was mediocre at best and the camera was meh.

For $40 though...maybe? If it had an actual controller I'd say this was a steal, as the actual drone is solid.

The Spark doesn't compare. The parrot is a toy, no more.
The Spark is way more advanced and has a much better app.
Gimbal, GPS, 1080p, gesture mode, quick shots, great range even without the remote. It's more compact, heavier and more stable.
You will need to register the Spark with the FAA though because of its weight.

Looks like a decent enough drone. Like buying refurbished. Feel like they get all the kinks out. Is 18 minute battery life standard?

Please post the condition they are in when you get them. I already have one of these from 4 years ago I haven't opened yet. Yes, I'm an idiot. But at this price, I'll dollar cost average if they are in decent shape.

great price sure, these were i think $300 when i got it, and I did like the look of it. but this was my first drone i owned (got another one for some dumb reason, then went to phantom 1, phantom 4, now dji spark), and while it was fun, camera quality sucks, range sucks unless you do pricey mods, and you have to use your phone or tablet to control which isn't the best. I do remember being able to connect a ps3 controller to it though and use that to control it which was better. But the one time i really got done with this is when I turned it on, set it to launch from the app where it goes up a few feet and hovers, but instead went up a foot or so and just went sideways til it crashed into the side of a nearby house about 100 feet away.

I forget the real reason i ended up buying a 2nd unit but ended up selling it to a friend for like $75, and the one that crashed i just took apart to sell for parts, i think i finally found out about the phantom 1 also which was way more advanced.

I would stay away from this if you can, its def not a new drone, prob 5 years old at this point.

How does the Spark compare? I've recently started looking into drones and I think I'm going to target that for purchase down the road.

So far only tried to fly for 2 minutes with phone inside and outside in dark. Waiting for my controller to come in. I know I downgraded from phantom 4, but I'm looking more for portability this time around. Will have a better feel for how I like it once I get the controller and do full fights on it during the day.

What phone/device did you use with it?

I will definitely do a review and post. It might be indoor only for now though as we're in the middle of 12 inches of snow falling, but hell, I got the snow color one, why not fly it in snow lol
