Bought a import model for $2800 when the 5DIV first came out. No issues, love the camera. I'd jump on this deal if I didn't have one already.

Just FYI Canon does not honor the warranty. Essentially you are on your own.

It's useful on any camera, imo, especially for venue shooting

Anyway they are not going to honor after one year and no camera goes bad within one year Forget the case that your luck out of your way. I bought 3 high end cameras in my life and never used warranty

It depends. Don't bank on them honoring it but Canon is really nice.

I had one on my T5i. Switched to a 7D MkII sand I really miss my articulating screen. I do astrophotography, and with the camera pointed up at the sky,I need to sit on the ground to see the screen.

I started messing with qDSLRdashboard tethered to my laptop to use as my viewfinder to get around it.

Correct. Canon aren't obligated to warrant repairs on imports, however, they have an extensive history of servicing imported bodies under the North American warranty.

Seriously, how many cameras have you had go bad after a year? My guess is that it will either be bad out of the box, or will break within the first week or two if there's an internal issue.

Will Canon repair a gray market camera if you pay? I'm not sure, but I believe they do. My understanding is that Canon is a much better company to deal with than Nikon who wouldn't even repair gray market if you paid them.
