BUG: Deal Alerts and Flame ratings don't work properly.

1,757 398 December 14, 2017 at 08:59 AM
Hi,

I have a generic Deal Alert that emails me any time a deal his Front Page. This works fine but gives me tons of email. I tried dragging the slider bar further to the right to get into the Flame section but those don't work properly and require a keyword to be used instead of just filtering on the popularity.

I'm assuming that the 3 Flame settings to the right of the Front Page setting mean they are even more restrictive and would further filter out only the best deals which is what I want. Can anyone confirm that's how these are supposed to work or not?

Hi kelemvor. If you hover your mouse cursor over the 'knob' on the slider bar, you should see a tooltip pop up explaining what the currently selected setting is. For Fire Deals 1, 2, and 3, that is currently the top 40%, 10%, and 5% of deals respectively.

When you say this isn't working properly without supplying keywords, can you explain more what you mean? Are you getting an error when trying to save the alert? Is the alert not saving correctly? Are you not getting the expected alerts?

How does "Front Page" compare to Fire 1 or 2 or 3? Is FP more than the top 40% or less than the top 40%? I have a DA setup right now that emails me every time a deal hits the FP. Since the Fire options are further over on the slider bar can I assume that the 40% Fire rating will give me less alerts than FP? Or do I need to bump it up to the 10% or 5% rating to get less than FP?

When I originally made this post, I was choosing the Fire options and NOT putting in a keyword and it would not let me save. I just tried it again now and it IS letting me save so I don't know what the problem was before but that part at least seems to be better now.

Any of the Fire settings should give you less emails than an all-FP alert.
