Need help with finding a good starter laptop for 9 and 11 year old

12 10 December 14, 2017 at 09:28 AM
Hello,

Need help with finding a good starter laptop for 9 and 11 year old. They would need something windows based (I already have Windows 10 so if it comes preloaded, great, if not no biggie). They would need it for web surfing, homework, access google docs, etc.

Looking to stay within the $2-300 range for each.

Thanks so much!

It has to be windows based because alot of their school programs are windows based and they need to access those programs through the portal and it's not compatible with mac. we only use macbooks / imac in the house. I don't have much experience with chromebooks so if you have any info to share, I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks so much!

Well, the school programs sort of seals it. Chromebooks are essentially a stripped down ultrabook. You pretty much have to be online to use, but for a lot of basic things they are cheap and do the job.

I see you got a few suggestions to start with above...hopefully you find the right one. I think you have plenty of budget.

Dell Financial Services has refurbs for $200. I got one for my daughter to play Minecraft and Roblox, and all seems well. I picked one with Nvidia Quadro. I actually bought 3 of these since Black Friday. My teenage boys are using them for Robotics.
