Garmin fenix 3 Multisport Training GPS Watch w/ Heart Rate Monitor, Gray [buydig.com] $219.99
Garmin fenix 3 Multisport Training GPS Watch, Sapphire [buydig.com] $289.99

only because of the color the sapphire is expensive? otherwise both are same devices?

The sapphire crystal is a harder and more scratch resistant material for the window. I prefer to have a sapphire crystal on a regular watch, but I'm not sure it's necessary on a sport watch. The case gets dinged up anyway.

F3 is old, heavy and comes with a lot more stuff vs. needs.

if you want to put on something all day and night get yourself avivoactive 3 [youtube.com]for around same price. you would not even know it's on you wrist

Not a bad deal. The Sapphire version has the metal band - the band you can sell for maybe 75-90.
Would be all over this if I did not have the 5x (that incidentally I bought the metal band included here on ebay for 90).

Does anyone know how these compare to the Garmin Forerunner 235?

Or does anyone know deals on the 235?

Not sapphire color but the watch glass is made if sapphire crystal. It is hard to scratch (only diamond can scratch it) and it is very expansive to produce.

Not likely to be dent, the case is rugged high gauge number stainless steel. I hike climb a lot with it, hit/scratch with rocks a lot, it's just little bit paint lost.

Sapphire glass is a must for me selecting sports watch (not many options), as it sees more severe conditions.

The metal band is HEAVY plus the watch is nowhere light. I replaced it with a light leather band. Notice you will need a band tool to adjust the metal band length.

Want to replace my old G10. Works great, but just want a nicer looking one that I can wear every day. Is the G235 where it's at?

This is cheap! I pay $700 for for my Fenix 5 Sapphire when it was pre launch.

The Fenix 3 is a big monster watch.

Garmin will not make it far, as I could simply use fitbit wristband with my iPhone GPS
