I love this thing. It's so simple, looks good, does what it needs to. Doesn't require a C-wire, but I have one, and thus don't rely on battery. The last couple HVAC people I've had over say they always recommend the Sensi if they can. They just work.

No Z-wave, wi-fi only, but that's as advertised. So this is my only downside since it's not as integrated into the smartthings system, and they apparently won't open up their API. But someone created a SmartApp for SmartThings that gets around it and signs into the webapp so you can control it through your hub if you wish. As such, I can also use it through my Google Home.

Otherwise, their app is well made, though I have no experience with others. Lots of customization, and very detailed scheduling through their own app.

Edit: Clarified main post about things I may have insinuated but didn't actually know. Apparently there's a little better direct integration with Alexa and to an extent, Google home.

I bought this 3 weeks ago at Newegg for $89 + 10 Newegg gift card. It is now on sale at Newegg for $97 + $20 Newegg Gift card. May be better for some if you have use for the GC.

Picked one up for my mother-in-law who has an ancient thermostat. We have two of these in our house since this spring and we've averaged about ~3kwh savings per day versus last year.

No c wire require makes it worked for me. Plus battery last a long time. I wish we could control temp when furnace is on but i guess its to saved battery.

I installed one earlier this week. I had to get one priced above $100 to get the $100 rebate from my utility,

So far I am happy. I am using it on a heat pump system with electric aux backup heat, BUT, if I have the setpoint at 60 degrees, and room temp reaches 60 deg, the unit takes forever to shut off - sometimes it goes 2-3 deg above the setpoint BEFORE it shuts down. I have reached out to Emerson but have gotten no reply.

I'm new to the smart thermostat thing and I️"m confused. I️ see a lot if people saying you don't need a c-wire. On the Lowe's website it says "; a c-wire is required for heat-only, cool-only and heat pump systems without aux". I️ have 3-zone BB heat and my CA is on a totally separate thermostat. I️ know I️ don't have a C-wire for the 3 heating zones. Will this work without a C-wire given it would just control my heat?

I don't care about "smart" part, but I have two of these and love to be able to control the thermostat from the phone.
Remember to check if there is any incentives from you power company. I was able to claim 50$ per each for letting them tweak mine during peak hours, which was just few times over the summer.

And no, you don't need a cwire. Runs fine on batteries with my heat only forced air system. I have replaced them once in the last year.
