Hi All HP users,

Recently we bought HP systems during Black Friday Deals. Thanks to Slickdeals for helping us save good money. Most of the HP Laptops have keyloggers installed through Synaptics touchpad drivers. HP has released an official document at the following site, you can go ahead and download the softpaq to avoid any potential threats.

Be safe and enjoy. Happy Holidays -Smilie

Here's an article about it:
https://www.pcworld.com/article/3...ogger.html
Snore...The keylogger is disabled by default. Unless someone with Admin privs on your computer enabled it, this is a non-issue entirely.
The keylogger is disabled by default, however. "A party would need administrative privileges in order to take advantage of the vulnerability," the bulletin states. "Neither Synaptics nor HP has access to customer data as a result of this issue." HP told Myng that the keylogger was a debugging tool.

It's called a "NSA" special. They can get admin privs at well. The bad thing is when others get NSA tools which have been leaked in the the past. If you think your data is safe it probably isn't. This is what you call a "backdoor". Just need to knock to have someone open the door Wink

They would need Admin privs AND access to your PC. Unless you're a dope, the default Windows Firewall isn't going to allow someone outside your network login. So then unless the NSA is breaking into your house and logging in and turning on the keylogger, you can rest safely. Oh, and if the NSA is breaking into your house, they could inserrt a keylogger themselves--they don't need HP to have pre-installed it for them.

Put tin hat back on shelf.
