Ok guys be gentle im still newish here long time lurker seldom poster. I looked and it appears as though this was posted but had previously expired and has changed in scope a bit.

barnesandnobles.com has select catan games 25% and an offer using code GIFTED for 20% off of 50$. i was able to get them to stack.

i purchased catan (fifth edition) and rivals for catan for 44.85 shipped.

Rivals for catan is on sale for 14.96 and catan (5th edition) is on sale for 36.71 total comes to 51.67 then the 20 percent off from the code takes it down to 44.85 after tax.

seems pretty good.

5-6 player expansion is also on sale for 18.71.

Couple of Ticket to ride games on sale as well. cannot confirm that 20% off of 50 stacks.

shipping is free

Good price for the C&K, T&B, and E&P expansions, you can get the base Catan game and seafarers for less on Amazon

If you were going to get one which expansion would you get?

boardgame geek shows seafarers and Cities and Knights to be the highest rated but ive had mixed results trusting those.

Cities and Knights is definitely my favorite.

Expands the rules and playing dynamics where you can strategically win MANY more ways.

The introduction of commodities makes for very interesting gameplay. We play with our friends as least once a week!

orignal deal for catan and rivals is still available. as is seafarers. I aprently SD'ed myself as i held out on getting cities and nights and the 5-6 player expansion and they are now sold out Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

i have played both..C&K is like a 9/10 and seafarers is like a 5/10..i wud also rate the base game as a 7.5/10...u cud combine C&K plus seafarers in same game but that also takes longer to finish--we have only tried that once or twice..C&K hands down the best one!

Cities & Knights to me feels like a 'full' version of Catan. In many ways, it makes regular Catan seem a bit dull in comparison!

C&K turns Catan from an Anyone Can Play game to more of a Gamers game. Seafarers is a pretty slight change from the base game, just gives a couple more options of what to go for.

So, I would say it depends on who you are expecting to play it with, but C&K is the more substantial expansion.

(I haven't played Traders and Barbarians)

They had a similar deal earlier this week, but unfortunately it's only free shipping, which would of shipped next Monday.. I need the game for a boardgame party this weekend.

Instead I went to Target, got them to Price Match Best Buy.. and threw in other Christmas presents to achieve $25 off $100. Similar price in the end!
