I had an Alesis set a couple of years ago. Pieces falling apart, problems with the sensors. I had to spend the extra money and got a Roland instead; no problems at all

This thing will work with Rock Band 4 if you got a midi adapter

right above the add to cart button.

as for the set, you may want to check craigslist for a used Roland with mesh heads TD-4 (or something). I don't know this set but the mesh plays better than hitting rubber.

Fully agree with this. I had one of these as a starter set and it worked well, but within 2 years almost everything was broken and I bought a Roland that's been great for the last 6.

I also did not have luck with an Alesis set and I didnt play it all that much. I now have a Yamaha set and it's been better. Roland is still nicer, my buddy has had two Rolands and he plays a ton and both look and still play wonderful.

I've played on a larger&more expensive Alesis DM10 for a couple of years now and can say that I would not recommend Alesis to anyone, at any price, unless you getting for a kid you suspect may not end up playing it much. the accuracy and responsiveness just isn't good, you're better off getting a lower end kit from yamaha or roland or scouring craigslist.

was looking for a starter kit for my 7 year old. Originally thought of getting the traditional kit but I dont think we can put up with the noise.

Based on comments above, I understand this is not a quality set, but is this an OK purchase for my purpose, as a starter set for my 7 year old who just recently started drum classes?

I almost never play my real drums, the eletronic kit is small and quiet and you can run an mp3 through it and mix the drums in your headphones. The real kit is used when we gig.

Got this set in October for $254.15 after tax at musicians friend by calling them and having them add a 15% discount during a call and save event. So far i have not encountered any problems with it, pads are responsive enough for fast drum rolls and kick tower works well after you stabilize it by putting something heavy behind it. Built in sounds are okay sounding but it also has midi in/out so you can use it with free/paid virtual instruments.

Bought this exact set 16 months ago for my (then) 11 year old who had just started taking lessons. They've been great. She loves them, can use with amp or headphones, and we've even taken them to talent nights at her school a few times. They've held up well. For the money, an excellent buy. Yes, mesh heads would be better, but we didn't know whether she'd stick with drums forever, so we didn't want to drop big bucks. She's still loving them though, so in the next year or so, we'll sell these for $100 or so and upgrade. Easily worth it.

Well, the website doesn't shutdown so order away!

They won't open the store until after sundown tomorrow. Then a small window before Chick-fil-A closes for their sabbath.
