Sphero R2-D2 w/force band $78.99 +tax b&m ymmv at Target

I am sure I will get some thumbs down, but hopefully this helps a few people out. Though no longer available online (and can't be ordered for in store pickup), I was able to stack 3 current promotions showing on the website.

1. $25 off $100 coupon for toys
2. 20% off star wars toys
3 free force band with purchase

if they say the 20% off is already applied to the current price of the R2-D2, show them (using the website or app) that the 20% should apply in the cart. I picked another item already on sale from the stars wars collection to show them.

I don't have a red card, but that could knock off a few extra bucks as well. Good luck.

It shows as $83.99 in the cart, not 78.99. It also applies to the BB-9E droid.

order summary
subtotal (2 items) $129.99
discounts -$46.00

save 20% on select Star Wars items
save $10 off $50 or $25 off $100 select toys

I wasn't able to order online earlier this morning, but that is cool you can. I am guessing the difference is that in store they took 20% off of the original amount, not the discounted

I do not see why they wouldn't, but I don't have enough experience with Target price matches to know for sure.

I was able to get on for 79.80 plus tax at Target. The 25 off 100 toys coupon needs to be scanned through the Target app or Cartwheel at the register, but the 20 percent was taken off Star Wars items (the sale price) and the free Force Band was free when scanned plus 5 percent off with Red Card. Thanks!

All my targets are out even though some showed as many as 4 in stock. Also, they were out of the force band and said even if they had the sphero, the band was "while supplies last" so wouldn't be included in the deal. This applied to all 3 models.

I tried to get my local best buy to match it, but they said they'd do 20% or $25 not both. They are also offering the free force band and offered to order it and have it shipped for free .. so it would be $104.99, but not as slick. I tried bb chat, but they wouldn't match anything but the $129.99 price. Frown

After all that, I realized the slickest deal of all ... we sooooo don't need this gadget. lol Smilie

You know, when I saw this post I was all hyped up to get it. But I decided to play with my $30 Smart R2-D2 from Walmart last year while watching another Sphero R2-D2 review. By the time the review was done. I pretty much decided my Smart R2-D2 is all the R2-D2 I needed. Yes, it's cool that the Sphero leg goes up and down. I already have the Sphero BB-8 already and I loved it for the 5 mins I played with it. Haven't turned it on since.

Still, I'm baffled why this thread hasn't gotten more attention. The $99 thread gets much more. But if the sphero BB-8 from 2 years ago is any indication, the R2-D2 has much further to drop.

I took a drive out to a further Target that had both the droid and the Force Band in stock, but I was able to pick it up for around $75 last night. Target had to manually apply the 20%, but it was taken off the $129 price first, then the $25 off was added. Add to that the 5% for the Redcard. I returned my original set that I bought for around $104.

This is a great price! 60% off the original retail price and includes a free Force Band. Too bad the $25 off is no longer in effect today.

I think the R2-D2 is much better than the BB-8 as it has lights and a speaker. The pre-programmed moves are great as well and I can't stop laughing everytime R2-D2 does his faceplant.

I just had a thought. It's too late now but I have no interest in the force band but wouldn't mind having a R2. I just remembered that Target unlike other retailers offer partial refunds for bundles. They even list out the partial refund you get for each part of the bundle on the receipt. What's the refund amount for the forceband?

I don't have my receipt from my purchase on Saturday handy, but I have the 2 receipts from when I returned my original Force Band and R2D2 purchase for $105.48. They were shipped separately, so they ended up processing 2 different returns. The Force Band refund shows $30.63 and the receipt with the R2D2 shows $74.85

From that deal it makes R2-D2 only $75. Since this deal was both for $78 I'm thinking the R2-D2 after returning the forceband would be about $50-$55. Now that's a good price.

Just checked my receipt and it's showing a refund value of $28 for the force band, so $45-50. Even better!
