I wonder if this is a permanent drop or temporary. Either way, I'm pissed that gamestop won't drop the price since I have an $125 gift card with them.

Haha. It does seem to pretty much be the norm now.

I also have to add... While I LOVE this thing, and is far superior to the Xbox 360 I had been using..... The voice feature with Google assistant leaves A LOT to be desired. It was actually the breaking point for me originally to finally buy it. Now that I have it, I say it's worth it. But I was very disappointed in the voice control.

I just paid $149 for the one without the controller, VERY impressed with it as a streaming device.

For those interested in this just as a high end streamer, it is not worth it. The Shield TV will run every Android TV App buttery smooth and is very responsive. However, when the Apps differ between Roku and Android TV, Roku's Apps are much better. YouTube and Netflix are pretty much the same on every platform.

You should get this if you are interested in it because it can play games, chromecast, or other features.
Or DVR or use an HDHomeRun or countless other reasons. :-)

What about bitstream HD Codecs like DTS-HD (with DTS-X) and TrueHD (with Atmos)?

Show me a streaming device that can do that. Not Apple, not Amazon, not Roku...

This does it. I've had the Shield for a year now. I watch TrueHD, 4k, HDR movies via Plex everyday. I've also watched, The Punisher in Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos on Netflix. There's no codec this player can't handle easily.

Disagree 100%. I have two of the first gen units and use primarily as streamers using Kodi. I have never played/purchased a game.
