PSA: Xbox Beta App Update - Party Chat enabled on Android

For those that were unaware & hate shopping for console specific headsets, there's a possibility you won't need to anymore soon for Xbox One, just like how MS now allows 3rd party webcams to work after they discontinued Kinect.

Guess MS had too many complaints about how buggy the XB1 UI is for Party Chat and the random disconnections at the most awful times while gaming shake head ... not sure yet what this means in the future, like if they're going to eliminate Party Chat thru the console & revamp the whole controller or what, could go either way at this point depending on the feedback probably.

Windows: no love for MS's own Windows phones sorry!

Thx for info. I just got xbox1 and saw headphones miniplug seemed to be 2.5 instead of 3.5. I'm still learning all ins/outs of accessories and features.

Nope, it's a standard TRRS 3.5mm, so any headphones with a mic you have will work on the controller.

As someone who talked with Xbox Support at length and gathering lots of data for them (who, when, what headsets, internet, NAT settings, network config, Xbox rev, etc.), party chat has been rock solid recently after many updates over the past few months.

And no, you don't have to use any specific headsets. If you have a controller with an audio jack on it, or buy the headset adapter, you can plug any normal headphones with an attached mic into that port. That includes ear buds with a mic, which I've done in a pinch before.

So basically, Xbox one party chat will be available through the mobile phone app in the near future? If so, that's awesome. I suggested that to them years ago.

That would be a good thing but I am not that excited about it. The only update that I am hyped about is the mouse and keyboard support for Xbox One 😏

And if they could allow any regular bluetooth headset to pair with the Xbox console and work perfectly fine, that would be a game changing
