I'm looking for an office chair for someone with back problems....something very comfortable. Any recommendations? Thanks!

I've had back problems since I was a kid. About 10 years ago, when I was in my late-30's, I bought a Knoll Life chair. At the time, I had no idea of other high-end chairs other than Herman-Miller and I got it so cheap off of E-bay that I thought "what did I have to lose"?

I've had that same chair since then, and am looking for another one because I accidentally dropped off of the back of a moving truck and broke one of the side arms--I'm keeping the first one to use in my workshop, and will eventually find a replacement arm.

I can't recommend it enough. I've literally sat in that chair for 6-hours at a couple of points in my career and didn't have any pains.

[You can find used chairs on eBay and also office furniture stores. Look for the ones with ALL the adjustments. They range from $300+, but friggen' last forever--again, my one that I've sat in for 10 years still works great, just that one of the arms is broken. I've just taken it off and use it without.]

I now will oscillate between a standing desk and that chair.

I know you're not asking and this is totally unsolicited, but if you can, find a person to check out your anatomy--in my case my chronic back problems were due to one of my legs being almost 2cm longer than the other, and being overweight (think body fat%, not just pure weight). I've addressed the latter with diet and lots of HIIT and am working on the former with shoe inserts. Hardly ever do I have back pains, and when I do, it's just a sore back from going at it too hard, Smilie

Edit 2: Here's a link for the listings on eBay. There are quite a few deals and if you happen to be close enough to a "pick-up" only, you'd save on shipping!

Excellent suggestions. Have you compared the knoll chairt to Herman's Aeron though?
