I would be wary of the Columbia bikes. We were bitten. Shipped to the house, don't have the time to assemble. Assemble after a couple weeks and find a pedal is messed up. Call CS and find out that Dicks says call the manufacturer. Because obviously I am out shipping at this point if I return it. So, I called the Manufacturer. They inform me all they do is offload crates from ships from China and they only exist in the US to shuffle shipping containers around. ZERO parts available from the manufacturer. So what did I do? I purchased yet another bike and eat shipping yet again in order to return the first POS that has a single pedal messed. Never again.

Try shopping from a local bike store.

So you're telling me these bikes use non- standard pedal fittings? Somehow I doubt that. I see no problem returning the bike but a quick trip down to a recycled bikes part store and you could have been up and riding

That isnt the point is it? Those 'classic' retro bikes also have retro style pedals. Why get someone a present of a new bike if I had to go through this? And they wind up with a mismatched pedal. Trust me I looked like you suggested online/CL/Etc before going this painful route.

However, I did get them to credit me a portion of the oversized shipping the second time, so basically I ate about $25 for a pedal and a lot of time out of pocket.

Agreed, but the local store really didnt have she wanted. My younger one was less picky and we went local and she got an all around more solid bike.
