I just clicked the link to Gauntlet and it says not valid in my region and won't show the game now (I'm in US).

Perhaps email them and ask for refund

I figured it out. There is a separate page (https://www.greenmangaming.com/gift-redemption/) where you can enter the keys they give you and you'll get another key that you can redeem on Steam.

I'm lost on modern PC gaming, but I just bought my son a gaming PC for Christmas.

Steam is free?
I can buy now and redeem after Christmas w/o a problem?
I want Gauntlet. Any other good games?
Some violence is ok but I don't want anything super gory and no cussing.

Thanks

Lots of excellent games here, but worth noting that the Steam winter sale will start tomorrow.

Yes steam is a platform to purchase and play games on. You can purchase games from their store or redeem steam keys purchased from other stores to play on it. They also have a ton of free games on there

I would recommend Bastion and the Batman games. They have some violence but aren't gorey. In Bastion you use hammers and spells and stuff, and Batman is, well, Batman.

I'd also recommend Scribblenauts. It's a puzzle game where you input your own items to solve it. For instance, let's say you need to get your character across a cliff. You could type in bridge, place the bridge down and walk across. Or type motorcycle and ramp and do your best Evil Kineval. Or dragon and fly across. It's not really violent at all and probably the most kid friendly game on here.
