Optimum Online Essentials Deal $49.99

Looks like a call-in only deal, but it is the same cost of their 100Mbps Internet plan (once the equipment is added) with the added benefit of basic TV.

Here's the breakdown:
100Mbps Internet (100 down/35 up)
100+ Channel Local TV
Free HD Cable Box (normally $10/mo)
Free Modem (normally $10/mo)
Free Router (Included)

The current 100Mbps internet only plan available from Optimum is $39.99 without the free modem ($10/mo) for a monthly charge of $49.99/mo

The current lowest double play plan available from Optimum is Optimum Core; 220+ channels, 100Mbps Internet, without the free cable box and without free modem for a monthly charge of $100/mo for 1 TV, $10/mo each additional TV.

In my opinion Optimum is not the greatest when it comes to speeds during peak times, but they are very reasonably priced and the Optimum WiFi network is nice to have if you're trying to avoid using mobile data.

The only thing I don't see mentioned for this deal is the installation fee of $99 and the surcharges for TV (sports programming, etc) that would add up to around $10. Currently online orders are waiving the installation fee, but it would be advisable to confirm when ordering.

Note: This does not include the 1 year of Netflix or Showtime

For Comparison:
Optimum Online Only: (100/35)
100Mbps ($39.99/mo) + Optimum Modem ($10/mo) = $49.99/mo

Optimum Core TV and 100Mbps Internet: (100/35)
Service ($69.99/mo) + Altice One ($20/mo) + TV Surcharges ($10.69/mo) = $101/mo (+ $10/mo for each additional TV)

Verizon FiOS: (100/100)
100Mbps Internet ($39.99/mo) + Router Charge ($10/mo) = $49.99/mo
Requires $99.99 installation charge

Xfinity (100/5)
100Mbps Performance Pro ($84.95/mo) + Equipment & Installation Fees

"Your best chance of finding Optimum service is in New York, their largest coverage area. You can also find Optimum in New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, It is a Cable provider, which means they deliver service by utilizing the cable television lines they are already running to your home."

I'm guessing this is for new customers only?

i called them and the rep told me that this is not available in Brooklyn. Says that it is only applicable to certain areas ie. Bronx. Beats me if that is true.

When I called, they said the channels only included satellite channels. Only stufff you get if you connected a regular hd antenna to any tv.

Destro, regarding "Essentials" pkg cable channels, Optimum advertising is 100 channels but it seems to me I get fewer than 100. On my cable box I am able to get most OTA channels including COZI TV, MeTV, etc... For my other TVs I hooked up coax cable line to the other TVs antenna feed & then ran TV's channel finder. I now have all the same channels on my other TVs, but those TVs don't have boxes. Finding the channels on those TVs is a little clunky, but if you have a ROKU TV (not any other ROKU devices), then simply use the ROKU TV remote left arrow and ROKU TV will bring up the TV's channel directory. Also, to avoid the installation fee, just order 300 MBs internet for $69.99 & then a few days later downgrade to the advertized 100MBs internet.

Yes - the 100 channels is misleading and made me think it was Core plus 100Mb internet which was worth the price quoted as 61.99.

I saw an Ad on a smartphone app but this is special offer is hidden on their website and details were only available via telephone call. The ad said "no fees, no kidding" which in my opinion was downright FALSE advertising because they include only a cable modem in the base 49.99 price when "no fees" should include at least one set top box!
