Although I use Foscam cameras, I hear read many reviews that their outdoor bullet cameras have a tendency to fail. So I would recommend putting them under eaves if possible.
My outdoor PTZ (FI9828) had held up to over a year of cold winters and wet summers without issue (it sat in the box for a couple of years before I got up on a ladder).

Ive had one of these on our brooklyn home for 2 years. Its held up well.
I thought about getting the dome camera a while ago but glare would be an issue. The FI9828 would be perfect under an eave.

I've had this one for a few years and it's ok. I wouldn't buy another 720 though. I've been happier with the domed Amcrest ones. Sure, a little more in cost but the quality is worth it.

720 is good I think it's not bad at all especially if you're starting out but of course the 1080 is a much better picture but more money. Depends what you're trying to achieve and how important it is and of course the expense you want to put into it. Also you need a really good fast strong internet otherwise you might want to think about doing wired cameras.

Ive used a small usb drive on my router to save recordings but you would have to use a 3rd party app and not Foscam.
I ultimately paid their annual fee $29.99 for 7 days recording and happy with their official app.

I have several of the POE (Foscam FI9803EP) and they work great with Blue Iris software server. No issues.

HI Britdube,

720p clearly is obsolete today when you look at what is available and the price point of 1080p cameras compared to 720p cameras.

1080p vs 720p will give you 2.25x the number of pixels and typically only cost a little more.

Haven't bought a 720p since the barely functional 9821v2. Bad taste with Foscam cameras. I know use all Reolink 4MP POE and they rock!

I have two of these... And regrets. I think I paid $75 for one and then grabbed another around $60 in 2016. The first slowly started to get blurry, and Foscam replaced it under warranty. Now, I have brought both inside since the night vision is pretty weak and in general they seem sharper in a more confined space. Just bothers me that they are obviously outdoor cameras living in my garage and basement. No reason to do 720p with today's prices, either.

Both were under eaves when outdoors, and never seemed to suffer from weather (even cold winter weather). But, the one just hazed over somewhere other than on the lens - like cataracts. Seemed to be a known issue and Foscam didn't make any trouble with a swap out.

Save your money..these are garbage. I tried then last year and returned then got the 9900. Glad I did x the cost difference was minimal and picture and angle were much better and vivid. Feels like I drank three beers watching the footage it was so bad
