First, you couldn't pay me enough money to give some random person access to my house like this.
Second, with the security vulnerabilities that have already been found with this setup (simple wireless jammer causing the camera to lose connection and freeze on the last image, allowing the delivery person to deliver, shut the door and turn on the wireless jammer before locking it, then go back in and do whatever they want, close the door and lock it and turn off the wireless jammer) installing something like this is literally begging to have your house ransacked or at least your packages 'delivered' and then stolen with no evidence on the camera.
Yeah Amazon was supposedly going to fix this one vuln, but have they? And given it was found in under a month after the product was released who the hell knows how many other vulnerabilities are present?
No, no, no, and HELL NO

Did I ever! They delayed the process by three days telling me "let's wait to see if it shows up" and finally told me that I needed to get a police report before they'd do anything more. Meanwhile, I need those gifts for my loved ones.

So yes, I contacted them and they treated me like dirt. I've had one or two experiences over the years like you, just know they're nice until they're not. Try and make sure you're not depending on them for an important gift like I did.

I would contact your CC company and charge back for unreceived items. Would you still want to deal with Amazon after this?

Protip : Escalate to a supervisor to get your situation resolved. If their solution is not acceptable to you, then calmly explain to them how you feel and what you are looking for. If they can do it, they will. You can ask for compensation for your troubles, free 1 day shipping, or any thing else you can think of within reason. If they don't (or if for some reason you're asking for the sun and the moon...) then you can continue up the escalation chain.

I've always had satisfactory customer service from Amazon this way. Doesn't mean there aren't unhelpful agents, but it's really easy to go around them. Charge back should be a last resort if they refuse to do anything.

these are never a good idea. in my areas countless people have had theft due to delivery drivers giving away gate codes to their criminal friends. now they have the code to your house? f that.
